I have just brought a 2004 VY2 Adventra it has 20 inch wheels .Is it better to go back to the standard size rim for drive/performance as not sure what difference it makes. There nice rims but im more of a practical versus looks type.

Depends what you do with the car. I do street only these days and run 19 inch 265 front and 305 rear. Looks great to boot fat rubber on those cars.
They can fit enormous rubber as I still have room under the car. One bloke has run 335 rears on a adventra. Massive

Fuel economy is not their strong point so I fouls it made no difference going from 18 to 19. Slight change in the finer bumps but I run higher pressure in bigger rims.
If you go off the road in ruts etc go to 18s for sure.

with 20s you have way less tyre choice but if you want good grip than get Michelin Pilot Super Sports awesome tyre in fact its the only tyre worth getting in 20s in my opinion.
I put a set of 19" SSV's on my Stock Adventra, it killed acceleration and braking... very noticeable with stock power, same package on my then Blown Stroked AWD Tonner and not so much ;)

20s on a pre VE are for looks basically, hard to justify for any other reason.

Those wheels are very heavy
I wonder what difference the forged VE SSV wheels would have made

Dunno Stu, I think it's more a PMoI issue than overall weight, I have my 16x7 Steel interceptors on it now and it's "normal" and they're heavier than the SSV's, the 19's have more mass out further from the axle C/L..

If you're going to go offroad, Piss them off and go back to 17's, you'll have a decent tyre choice and a sidewall.
I'm on stock 245/45-18's can't fault the size, but had to get tyres from the states.

Thanks to everyone for the replies as i will be towing the jetski to the beach and do a bit of shingle driving then i will get some 17s or 18,s.Would VY ss 18,s be suitable just worried about weight.

My avalanche wheels weigh a heap.
Maybe u. My earlier post may not be typical as the 19s on my avealance are kbr forged billet and light.

Weight of wheels or wheel weight rating ??
Hey just another thought, what model Addy is it , coz
16 inch steelies were standard on the SX6 , so they might fit, depends on the front brake were the v8s bigger brake in the Addy?
So you could pick up a set, cheap, throw some off road tyres on them and put them on when you go offroad, keep the 20s for daily use.
Brakes are the same, I have the 16" Interceptors off my Tonner on my Addy at the moment ;)

Bet they don't fit the tonner no more ;)

Im just want to know if the VYSS 18,s will handle the weight of the LX8 as i can get a set of 5 FOR $400 which means i could sell the 20,s
