Well at least we know where all the manufacturing dollars are being spent..... in Mexico.

The parts and even cars out of Mexico are very good these days, but I wonder how the American "Pride" is going these days LOL!
I assume that like trying to sell Chinese to Germans ... hence many factories in Eastern Europe seem to be working well for Euro brands.

Interesting times where manufacturing continues to gravitate to the cheapest labour places on Earth.

"
(Reuters) - General Motors will invest $5 billion in Mexico to double its production capacity at its plants around the country, Mexican Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo said on Thursday.

"With this investment, General Motors will double its production capacity of vehicles, engines and transmissions," Guajardo said at a news conference in Mexico City.

Of the $5 billion, $1.4 billion has already been spent, Ernesto Hernandez, president and managing director for General Motors Mexico said, leaving $3.6 billion to be invested over the next four years through 2018.

The money will go toward expanding General Motors' four manufacturing complexes in Mexico, modernization of production lines and technological advances in autos and auto parts, Hernandez said.

The four complexes are in the states of Coahuila, San Luis Potosi, Mexico State, and Guanajuato. "

The **** you guys talking about?

When I pulled the engine (LS1) out of my car there was a "made in Mexico" sticker on the back of it.

This isn't new. But $5billion dollars of non-drug money is I guess. Funny that GM can take a massive government bailout, pay **** all cents in the dollar back, then when times are good, create jobs in Mexico rather than the US. Nice.

Yes, and the consistency of brie cheese. They just haven't mastered the art of metallurgy as well as the lets say Japan, USA, Germany. Italy in regards to critical components.
The final product just isn't "finished off" as good YET.

In the quiet words of the Virgin Mary... Come again. We've seen many stupidly powerful engines come from supposedly poor Mexican metallurgy based engine components

Remember its GM USA controlled plant with US technology..... it "should" be the same as made it in the US, if not then questions need to be asked......

A bit like how GM can make high tech cars, but can fail to keep water out of taillights on certain models....
Lessons learned of the past - now forgotten ? Interesting times at GM
