VL ls1 Conversion questions

Hey I am interested in buying a decent ls1 engine for around the 7.5k mark.

I am also interested in putting it into a VL Commodore.

I am trying to get my head around the whole what is needed in the VL to run the ls1?

I am pretty new to all this and wondering if someone can help me please.

I am trying to get away with 10grand all up.

A decent ls1 for 7500?
You'd get an LS3 cheaper than that. I presume it's had a lot of work done and comes with a trans?

As a rough guide, you'll need engine, trans, ECU, conversion kit with headers, starter relocation, mounts etc, custom harnes, modify the tailshaft to suit

If you want it engineered, you'll need to upgrade the brakes

There's a few good write ups around. May scrape it in for 10k if you can do a lot of the work yourself. If you're paying someone, the remaining $2500 in your budget won't come close

just checking out ebay using the terms "ls1 Engine".
My plans at the moment are buy a VX SS Manual and turbo it for around 19 grand all up.

I would much rather a VL ls1 conversion with some work done though.

Weighing this up though I think it would be cheaper to go with the VX SS and maybe do a little work to the engine.

What do you guys think?
