Hey guys

I have a set of 3.46 ratios sitting in my garage from a mates VY SS 6 speed, recently I have decided I want to throw some money at my VZ instead of buying a VE. However I see many mixed thoughts on 3.46, 3.73 and 3.9s.

Currently my car is making 241.7rwkw and lacks down low get up, my daily driver which is a twin turbo legnum VR4 with only 150awkw and would make is look like a little bitch off the line and up to 80ks, I also plan in the future going with a VCM 21 cam. I don't do much freeway driving, maybe a few times to syd and back which is roughly 130km each way and maybe 2-3 times a year.

Should I install the 3.46 ratios or go higher?, I am looking for that pushed back in the seat feel and to remove the low down sluggishness it currently has.

Thanks

The 21 is a pretty small cam, wouldn't have any issues drivability wise with the taller gears but I would go 3.7 or 3.9's especially given the lack of highway kms you do.

I had 3.9's behind my M6 SS ute with a cam bigger than yours. It could still get into the 10L/100km bracket on the freeway on most occasions.

If you do that little freeway work just go 4:11's. A mate of mine and a member on here had them in his cammed vy M6 and got nearly the same economy as mine.

4.11's are pretty short for the 4 speed. I didn't mind it when I drove one but could see why a lot of people wouldn't like it
