So I just got a vz Calais and it seems acceleration from a complete stop has became slow after washing the car which doesn't seemed to be present before washing. Just seems to take noticeable time for it to accelerate. But the issue may have been present before and I only noticed it yesterday.
I've checked power shift is off. Any ideas?
Thanks a lot

no but I guess some water went inside while washing the soap suds from front grill? the hose attachment was in the "jet" position.

If you have otr intake it could be soaked, dry it out.

not really sure what it looks like but I searched the net and I'm guessing it's the black "shroud" (http://www.maceengineering.com.au/WebRoot/ecshared01/Shops/mace/MediaGallery/IMG_0692.JPG) in front of the engine? If yes, then I don't have such an intake.

Yes the otr intake is a 'over the radiator intake' basically the black shroud that it's where the air goes into the throttle body. The filter is normally just inside and easy to get water in there

I've looked under the bonnet and I don't have it.
It just seems to struggle to accelerate from a complete stop but better once it starts rolling. Also if I'm coming to a stop (e.g. traffic lights are red) in an intersection so I slowed down significantly (still moving but very very slow) and the lights suddenly turned green, it accelerates fine.
it just feels like a fully loaded truck when trying to accelerate from a complete stop. :(

guessing its an auto ?
Problem probably always existed and might be your imagination, kind of like when you see an old scratch or dent on your car thats been there for years and your like " Was that always there? "

Stock VZ Calais?
3.07 diff gears + an untuned LS1 or L76 will always feel pretty slow IMO.
Add hot weather and they feel pretty damn sluggish.

also I' guessing it uses more fuel too? the trip computer display 50-90L/100Kms when starting to accelerate... :/

I forgot to say it's not really hot here in Adelaide yesterday/today. between 23 to 27C I think.

Totally normal. :)
I'd suggest giving it a day or two to "dry out" in case any water got somewhere it shouldn't and if still a problem worry about your next step then because once you start getting into tunes to eliminate the normal LS1 "doughiness" down low and reducing torque control to give it a bit more kick that's the start of potentially an expensive and slippery "mods" slope. :D That said, the first thing my last few cars have had done is tune/air intake/exhaust to free it from all the factory constraints. Most of us on this forum have been down that path - it's a great one but can be expensive!!

If you're sitting idling at lights or in traffic for any period of time even in that "low" temperature range your IAT (inlet air temp) in a stock car will very quickly exceed 40C at which point the engine management system will cut timing to the motor making it feel sluggish. In a stock car that can take ages to come down again, even at cruise.

The motor in that pic is a V6... Looks to be in a VE though, so I'm guessing you just stole the pic from somewhere else on the net?
