Brake pads?

I have AP Racing brakes on my CV8 Monaro, and am running Ferodo Racing pads(they were in there when I bought them), they throw out an extreme amount of dust, making the wheels filthy all the time. My question is, are there any other brand pads I can run that stop well without the extreme dust? I am only driving on the street, no track or hard driving really.

Ferodo DS2500 are a very good pad but they are dusty. You could try a Hawk or QFM pad they are pretty good and have less dust. Bendix are also a forum sponsor and may be able to assist you with a product, i imagine something like the SRT pad from Bendix would be the go although i have never used them personally.

+1 for the Hawks .. About 1/10 the dust of my previous Bendix pads, and last longer.

Green Stuff brake pads are great for very little dust, have run them in a couple of cars, good for street.

The worst I've ever seen were Bendix Ultimate's on my brothers car, the absolute worst dust making factories

you could put inside your wheels, known to man, steer clear of them...

I'm currently using QFM A1RM pads on the street, best pads I've used to date, cheaper and better than Green Stuff, but are a bit dusty.

I'm so impressed with the A1RM's, that I can live with the bit extra dust.

if anything should make them dirtier/dustier


Having said that.. stay away from Bendix Ultimates terrible performance pads that make your wheels
black and blacker the more stops you do (and the dust eats wheel paint if not cleaned off regularly)

Another vote for QFM, they're an excellent pad. Their A1RM is probably what you're after, the HPX is their 'street' pad along the same lines as Bendix ultimate (but better than them in every way).

They are not as dusty as the Bendix ultimates but i still find them dusty. The DS2500 are the stock pad for the GenF HSV range.

I agree they are a good pad and at the end of the day i'm willing to get dirty wheels for the superior pad.

Yeah, I bought a set of those for a car I had a while ago, I agree 100%
I took them off after about 3 weeks.

Wouldn't touch Ultimates at all with the range of other choices available these days. EBC reds for me, very little dust, good bite and can take a bit of abuse. The greens are good if you only drive on the street and don't push them hard.

I'd recommend giving Matt at Race Brakes Sydney a call. Excellent service and prices...fast freight too. He'll be able to recommend a pad to suit your needs

I put QFM HPX pads on my redline fronts after reading recommendations here. I did 1000km on the road and then did a track day. They lasted about 30minutes, just melted off like they were made of plastic.

After that I went to DBA 5000's and Hawk HP Plus. This was a bit of an over reaction :) After about 40,000km and NO track days, my slotted rotors were appeared solid and the pads were barely worn. They were also bloody noisy, people were asking what was wrong with my brakes from day 1. Pedal feel was bitey +++, but faded as per usual with spirited use. When applying the brakes at night, sparks would be flying past my windows, the pads were just stripping metal off the rotors!

So I got new 5000's and put Ferodo DS. Very quiet. Low dust. Pedal feels relatively spongy but feels the same with abuse. I might try 2500 next time. Also have A1RM on the shelf here but haven't got around to trying them.

I have Bendix Ultrimate on the rear and they have survived a track day plus about 50,000, still looking good. Not sure they are a performance item but at least they have not fallen apart.

Their HPX are not meant for track use, and getting 30mins of track use out of a street pad is pretty good, I would say. you would've needed their A1RM pads, at the least.
