I have an iPod Classic in my Gen-F which does not fully index (albums, artists, etc).
Most of my songs were in WAV format (I prefer the better quality, hence the "large" Classic)
I have been complaining to Holden since I have had the car, spent many hours (for example) converting from WAV to Apple lossless (which they said I had to do to fix the problem). Still there. Note that the same unit was ok in my two FPV GT's, and is also ok in my Porsche 928GT. Just not the Holden sound system!

So, the next solution is to look at a repacement.
But it has to play lossless.
And it will need a capacity of at least 80GB+.
The largest iPod at the moment is the Touch, 64MB, probably ok except over $450 (paying for all the stuff that has nothing to do with music).

Is there anyone out there who has something that plays lossless, and with a good capacity? And just plays music (dont need internet, games, etc etc).

Maccas - great idea given the number of no longer but usable iPhones! Even I gave a 4. Problem is getting the 80Gb's.

Buy an old Android phone with an added SD card and you can place as much music in any format you like.

Thanks - sent Sony (and GMH) an email re compatibility (Holden cant support iPod, so...?). Not cheap, but as I (had to) replace sound system in a HSV Tourer, worth it.

... I didn't replace anyhting in my new Tourer
just got a 128gb USB flash stick (LEXAR brand about $25) and filled it up with music (via MS Media 'playlist' )
works fine and dandy... days of music on that

Smitty, the Tourer comes with the basic (and I mean "basic") sound/speaker system for the commodore. It did not come with either of the 2 models above it. The front speakers cost $19 and sounded like it.
I had all speakers replaced (by Phatt Audio), and an amp and sub installed in the side/rear panel. Cost a few $'s, but could not live with the original. But that's me, each to their own!
Will check out the USB stick - need to check if it can play WAV or AAA (MP4).

... well I have to admit that I am no certainly no connoisseur of vehicle audio systems
but the GEN-F R8 Tourer system is a far leap forward from my old VEII SSV wagon and
besides ...a 340SV bimodal exhaust even in Touring mode tends to dominate the aural
experience of steering an R8 Tourer even if ACDC or Pink Floyd are pumping away.... :)
