Hi, I'm after a turbo set-up for my 2015 Clubsport LS3 but all the workshops in Sydney are so overpriced compared to other states.

What ever happen to the specials that workshop use to run ... like $10k drive-in drive-out,

I haven't been on this forum for a while but is streettuna still around? I remember he use to have great specials

Put the car on a truck and send it interstate.

Martin Donnon is still around, no idea if the workshop he works for does much dabbling in the turbo commodore market. R35 turbo kits command a much higher price tag.

they do GTR's and all sorts now.

The turbo ls sector has dried up a bit, supercharging seems the way now, cheaper to buy a LSA crate than a drive in drive out deal on a supercharger

Martin works at "Willall Racing" at Gillman in South Australia
but I can't imagine them doing it for "$10k drive-in drive-out." especially with interstate transport these days Luke.;)

There's been talk that turbo LS aren't able to be emissions certified where as the superchargers have been. Probably due to the fact Walkinshaw does supercharger packages and has gone to the effort of doing all the EPA requirements.

Problem is as well people get used to prices and just live with it. It's why just about every place charges 1k for a tune irrespective if they take 10 mins to do a tune or an hour.

There's a bit of info around on here if you have a search. Pretty much take the price of the motor and nearly double it to get it running in a VE/VF (more if it's an earlier model). Most places charge about 20k drive in/out, a bit less if you can exchange your LS3 or similar.

Have seen single and twins fully legalized in WA ever since they were first popular. Same with QLD, know of a few cars that have come across that were fully mod plated.

Are you sure Walkinshaw has had their packages emission complied. News to me

Could of sworn I saw some where it was fully certified. Hm maybe not. Very strange given Walkinshaw is a big business and wanting to look like a OEM style upgrade place.

Depends on the engineer I guess at the end of the day.

Then again I guess it's also a matter of time. Slap a blower on do a tune done (simplified greatly obviously but still) vs turbo where you have all the extra plumbing to deal with.

Just because it's engineered doesn't mean it's emission complied. Just ask VW lol

Just a guess, but maybe APS in Frankston.

I think the problem you will find is most people moved on from fitting junk turbos and junk parts because they got sick of doing warranty claims.. The old drive in drive out $10K package wasn't all that great and or powerful.

As for emissions you get into the whole closed loop/open loop single vs twins vs....

What do you want out of the car? do you want to tell people it is turboed or do you want to actually go fast.
