Surely must be a Vauxhall club or forum in the UK that can point you to a decent shop?

To be honest, even over here rebuilding 6L80s is not a really well understood art, although things are slowly improving. If you haven't already done so look at things like http://paceperformance.com/i-8434163-gmp-24250062-camaro-transmission-pan-kit-with-wide-mouth-filter-6l80.html which adds about 1.5 litres capacity to the fluid (even more if you slightly overfill as generally recommended) and helps protect the box better.
From all the reading I've done of guys running in the low 11s and even 10s with unmodified boxes for countless runs it would seem that the critical thing is the A6 tune! Unfortunately there are so many interrelated parameters that very few people really have a good handle on it.
Given your location you're probably really better looking to the USA where based on sheer numbers alone there would be far more experience with the 6L80 than anywhere else.:yup:

just buy a built 6l80e from circle'd transmissions when your current box let's go.
Having tuned quite a few 6l80's in cars with high hp, the key to making them last is to prevent any downshifts dropping a bunch of gears in D mode when u mash the throttle. i.e cruising at 100kph and then going down past 4th gear or alternatively use tapshift to get into the right gear.
shift pressures and the ecu torque calculations are also critical, if not right then u will burn up clutches.

Ok thanks guys still waiting on a few companies over here to see what they can do. Other than that will just wait till it breaks and then get one from the states. Think the map on it is pretty good so hopefully will last.

A decent external fluid cooler helps.

considering these cars are in very little number over there, i think you'd be throwing away good money trying to get someone in the uk to build one up for you. You'd be paying for them to learn that's for sure.
Even in australia there are very few shops having success in building them up.

I picked up modded ve ssv ute 2 weeks ago this Friday, retuned it over the weekend after changing converter and adding a deep pan sump etc.
Took it to the drags on street tyres and did a 11.029 using 2nd gear and easing it off the line. didn't have any dramas with it shifting until I took it down on slicks last night and the harder launch shows up as a weird mid gear stutter due to the box loosing pressure due to not enough fluid. I'll be adding another 2 litres tonight.
Anyway I ended up getting a couple of mid 1.6 - 60 footers using first gear (2nd wouldn't stall up as I couldn't hold it still on the shit factory brakes) and was pretty consistent running 10.7 to 10.8 @ 129mph.

If you watch the video you can hear it leave the line, studder like it's changing gear, then go again once it actually changes into 2nd. The log from the runs shows it plain as day as you can see the timing being pulled for a shift that isn't there.

Very nice. Is the circle d converter A bolt on or does it go in the box as my box is out of the car at the minute?

converter as in torque converter, that's what transfers power from your engine to gearbox

yep, stock internals on this motor. I have a forged 6.2 to go in soon. I just wanted to see how quick i could get the current motor.

i kept the motor/blower/exhaust/fuel system from the sedan before selling it, because it was an 07 model it technically wasn't allowed to go below 10.99 which it could do on street tyres.
the real simple answer for buying the ute was it was bloody cheap at $22k, and it doesn't get driven much. lol, it's been parked up on the drag slicks now since i raced it 3 weeks ago.
it's now doing 10.5's on the slicks, plenty of guys with bigger combo's running slower.

as for the vx it's dedicated for drag racing and the aim is to run a 8 second pass, it gives me a target to go for. i still only do the racing for my own enjoyment which is why i mostly do the waw and some of the fast series events. the pb to date is a 9.4 in that car and it's still running on the initial wastegate boost of 12psi aim is 18 - 20psi
