Just thought I would ask if knows the difference between the MSD LS1 Coils and the MSD Street Fire Coils ?
And do actually work yet ?
I know for years people have been saying that "don't waist the money" " no improvements " but is that still the case ?
Cheers

What improvement do you expect to make? The factory stuff has always been the most reliable, capable of supporting big hp and hasn't changed for good reason.

Not upset at all, I just don't see a reason for going after the "latest and greatest" when there's nothing wrong with what's already there. If it ain't broken, why fix it?
But you never answered my question, what do you expect to gain from them? More power? Better drivability? More reliable/stronger spark?

I think the biggest difference is one is Red and has MSD letters on it the other is black and has no letters printed on it.......oh sorry no I think the biggest difference is how much they cost.... I run close to 700 rwhp with my 2300 set up and the coils are bog stock, but then again I also run bog stock rockers, rods, valve springs, crank and valves. Saved a ton of $ in the build which I spent on brakes and suspension which does make a difference

As mentioned, stock coils with a normal 12V feed to them lights up fantastic - not sure what you're expecting to gain unless MSD have done some magic inside their version to put out more current or something. I run stock LS1 coils on my Megasquirted Pontiac 400 engine with a decent overlap hyd roller cam and it lights off the mix fantastic whereas before it needed a bug zapper CDI to light the spark with the dizzy. The other best thing about stock LS1 coils is they are cheap and you can buy spares anywhere. Hell I bought a complete set off eBay for $50 so I have 8 spares :D

Thanks guys for the comments.
So like it was years ago, they are still not better.
Thought something might of changed and maybe, just maybe it might have made a power increase.

:goodjob: but you won't save much if you overlook the valve springs, fine on a low K, LS engine..cheap insurance to do sooner than later than risking a dropped valve especially so under boost!
