Neat ute but I think the price is a bit steep.

The Bumpers, Body-kit and Flares paint doesn't even match the rest of the car... Tacky / Bodgy... Seriously and he's asking $85K!!!...

No exhausts in the cutouts, What The...

The ricer stretched tyre effect is a Complete Fail!!!... on this car, with such larger gaps between the tyres and the flares, why even bother...

You'd have to be on acid to pay any were near $85K for it, regardless on how much has been spent.

The proportions are all wrong.

Especially with its poor fit and finish and non matching paint colour.

What happened to the missing trim piece in the lower radiator air intake. You can see the two holes either side of the bumper for it...

Must of run out of there non matching silver paint, they didn't want to have a 3rd non matching silver hahaha...

Followed this build from the start. It was his "dream car", one that he had always dreamed of owning. Now he is trying to flogg it off and make a quick buck. Doesnt sound like a dream car to me.

He claims you couldnt build this thing for less than 6 figures. IJ must have charged him $50K for him to come up with that number. From what I saw, nothing of quality went into the build. Cheap Maloo. Junk Cross8. Everything else was cheap 2nd hand. I do note that he quoted all new price in the ad.

For me, the whole build would have been well under $50k.

But the clincher for me was the final line of the ad..

*Please note if you contact me for advice on what I've done so you can replicate this vehicle please understand that I wont assist you*

He is quite happy to pick everyones brains and use people up to get the car done. But turns into an arsehole if he ever has to return the favor.

Not like it was a difficult build anyway. The hardest part IJ did in his spare weekend.

Geez you stay away from forums for a while and come back to see this sort of crap, hate threads. I'm surprised you lot haven't attacked peoples ride threads because they picked the wrong colour air freshener. How do you value an AWD HSV Maloo in pretty good nick? I'd say most people would do vehicle + parts + body + labour + rarity = price. I'd say all together it's 60-70k. He's obviously added a little cherry on top.

SASLS1 obviously you've never taken a look at a Quicksilver coloured car or a Coupe4 in real life because you'd realise Holden/HSV can't get the paint and panel fit right either. Always a different colour from plastic bumpers to the metal. It also doesn't take a genius to work out the car wasn't finished in the those photo's and was missing a few parts.

I think you are going way over the top mate!

Would you seriously pay $60,000 for that thing?

Hey, don't get me wrong, it looks like a great build & quite a nice car but
it's certainly no prize winning concourse show car & a lot of the parts were obtained from damaged, old, high klm scrapped cars.

To be honest I laughed when you wrote he was adding a "cherry on top" because the fruit I was thinking about when I read the advert
was a pineapple & it wasn't going on top of anything.

Hey I have seen other posts on facebook and a thread on another forum which has been much harder
& far less restrained on this advert than what's in this thread, everyone is looking it as a joke.

1. you never get back what you put into a build $$$ wise.

2. 'rarity' doesnt apply to something built at home in a shed. only factory rare releases etc.

Seriously!!!... The way the ad was written was complete gibberish, you can write all the bs in the world, people just look straight thru it... People aren't stupid...

No one would pay that kind of money for a incomplete car. The first cop you drive past in it, you'd be defected for the wheels on the spot, so useless...

As for colour mismatch, factory or non factory, it still looks like ass regardless...

Gee look, the ad has been taken down, and now he's trying to flog off the front bar minus all its trim pieces for $2k...

So much for the rarity, no one wants its...

Yeah, agreed, there are plenty of dreamers advertising cars for very unrealistic money mate.

But to be honest, I would still much rather buy a genuine Coupe4 for $80,000 than this ute for $70,000.
If you bought a genuine Coupe4, at least you would have some chance of getting your money back in 10 years!

I sold my Coupe4 with 28k on the clock for $58k. Had it advertised for $65k, about 12 months ago. No one was calling. Buyers for these cars are few and far between. Mine ended up going to a collector in Perth who was going to stash it away with his other cars as an investment. So they might be advertised for $80k+ But I bet my balls they are not selling.

But I know what I would be buying if I did have a spare $70k to spend on a car. And it wouldnt be the bitsa ute.

If he'd just done the AWD conversion, and left the exterior of the car OEM stock Marloo R8, spent the money on getting the wheels made with the correct offsets, with zero mods to the perfectly proportioned OEM guard lines, it would of been 1000% better, than it looks now...

A lot more people would be interested in it, taking the current stupid price totally out of the equation...

Never been a fan of add on flares OEM or aftermarket, as they always look like an after thought IMO.

Yes I totally agree... buy the Real Deal Coupe 4... or don't waste your time with a Try Hard Wannabee, Replica ute...

Bingo, I really don't get it, the article has been posted on FB a couple of time now, I mentioned that I was the builder but no response at all from Nick the first time, then I posted a few more details and the Journo asked if I'd like to contact him so he can correct it, I said it was really up to Nick to set the record straight then the peanut gallery started in accusing me of being a sook about it...

I can't think of a single sane person that wouldn't be pissed off at this after the amount of work that went into finishing the car to the point it was driveable.

In the past I've just fobbed it off as no big deal but this is the reason why I rarely build for other people and why I'm selective about who I'll take on.
