.. I did that on my last VE SSv wagon
got my local dealer to do it .. cost me $100 and THE DEALER paid for the plastic clips and switches (on the wheel controls)
they broke while doing it :)

Surely they broke the clips as they had NFI off course!

It isn't too difficult just take your time. To get the airbag clips undone, I found a wide stubby screwdriver worked well.

took my dealer about 50 mins (inc getting the replacement bits from spare parts)
so normally about 35-40mins I reckon. The longest part is re-setting the airbag trigger
thingy so the body module recognises it (afiter it got disconencted when the wheel came off)

Smitty I haven't heard of this before, done ours with batt still connected & all fuses in too & no problems.

What is the difference between the VE GTS wheel and say a VE Calais V wheel? I see a few for sale at Alan Mance for $299, are they a worthwhile upgrade?

Rod they are exactly the same fitment. I have both wheels for our Cal V & are interchangeable. Bought mine from Senator Mike off this board some time ago.

Worth the $ Mick? Is it a much nicer wheel to hang on to?

They're certainly a nicer wheel then the Calais one & giver better control whilst driving. All my cars have the HSV wheels. Noticed my new VFSSV ute has an almost identical wheel on it oem. Price is probably about right, got mine S/H off Mike a bit less than that though about 2yrs ago & was immaculate.

everyone has to make a $$, they have costs to cover, an hour is about right, get car from car park, seat covers on, take for drive to make sure wheel is straight, disconnect battery, remove covers & controlls, remove wheel refit everything, test drive again to make sure wheel is straight.

Hi Guys,

Thought I would give you a quick update. The guy at work put my steering wheel on and I have to say I totally underestimated how effing good this is. It honestly, bang for buck I think is the best mod I have done to my car. Compared to my old wheel its is night and day. It even makes my seats feel nicer. Its a lot fatter and honestly makes the driving experience MUCh better. I can't believe I would say all that about a wheel.
I bought mine from Ebay but be careful to make sure its a HSV one and not HBD. Mine was brand new and $299, I have seen people selling them second hand for mid 3's.
Guys if you don't have a HSV (like me) I would HIGHLY recommend thinking about a HSV steering wheel.
Oh and Hi Octane no offence mate but that is BS. Whilst I understand everyone has to earn a dollar (I run 200 labour staff) I watched the bloke from work put mine on in less than 20 minutes. Did it in the car park with the door half open and just removed a better lead. Wheels is straight and perfect.

Sounds good, mine arrived today and getting it fitted Saturday week. Definitely a bit fatter than my Calais V wheel.

I felt instantly safer when I pulled it out of the box, can't wait for the impact it has when on the car.
