Everyone is probably all over these already but what's the general consensus?
Personally, I think the SV Black pack is nothing more than a sticker special but also something that is long overdue. Really it should have been released when the F2 came out. Limited run between now and the end of October when the 340kW LS3 is no longer emissions compliant. May have missed out on some sales bringing it in so late as there isn't that great a leap in price between these and the SSV Redline.

The Track Edition however seems like a good thing. With current Redlines around for about 65k drive away and these coming in at 68k plus onroads, its a pretty good deal IMO. Shouldn't take much to get the proposed 150 out the door. Big brakes, forged GTS wheels and much stiffer suspension. I also like the idea of the wrapped wheel for that sportier feel.

And then of course there's the Grange...nothing new really just some minor updates to keep the model going until its retirement.

Interesting they've gone with R8 name, but they don't have the MY15 R8 seats (or badges)....

Track Edition needed the W375 kit at the least.

R*? ... probably as they all have the higher output 340 engine (not the original 325 jobbie)
the seats? just being cheapskates in my opinion which downgrades the vehicle. For an extra grand they could chucked
the decent HSV seats in (and people would pay the extra imho)

I always thought they should have still offered an NA engine, but if the 340 is non compliant from October I guess then the writing is on the wall. Apart from clearing remaining Gen F stock first, I think they would have lost some sales not having an NA engine car offered at lower price point than the LSA.

HSV can always offer the 304 kw LS3 that Holden has already made Euro5 compliant.
Its just whether HSV people would pay the extra 10k over a SSV Redline for a heavier car with same power as a Holden.

don't quite get that...
the HSV LS3 is the same as the Holden LS3...except for the extractors, air intake
oh.. and HSV engine cover (of course)
so why wouldn';t the HSV engine not comply? I think it more to do with ensuring
HSV (aka Holden Supply) are not caught with stock at the end...

The tune is different as well to achieve the extra power. Can't imagine that HSV's tune will comply with Euro5 (aka wankersville pollution targets).

This.
The Holden tune likely meets the requirements and the HSV one doesn't. The cats may also be different.
No idea how much more stringent the revision in Euro5 v2.0 is compared to the original so it may only slightly miss the mark but too costly for HSV to bother doing anything with it given the amount of LS3's they're likely to move.

hard to get excited or raise an eyebrow over the continuous sticker specials that both holden and ford continue to pump out
I priced up the Track Edition with a dealer in Vic, $76k drive away. Too much for some wheels and brakes over the Redline IMHO

I know everyone finds value in different things, but the actual cost of putting those two things on would be near on the difference in pricing before you look at anything else...I'm sure plenty will say the Redline already has forged wheels and a decent brake setup but they're still not worth the same dollar value. I would hope resale will be a lot better than an SSV-R too.
I also find it hard to believe that a track edition would remove the better bolstered HSV seats in favour of the Redline ones. Yes I'm sure HSV needed to save money somewhere but it seems counter intuitive to me. Another thing that put me off was actually the replacement cost and frequency with which you need to replace rotors and pads. I would be going aftermarket but they are still pricey.

I think they are downgrading the R8 name not having HSV seats, R8 has always had HSV exclusive seats, I still have my VX R8 (I've had it 10 years now), the HSV Coulsens are great seats. Then from another post $76 K for a R8 Track Edition and no HSV seats, what the......
