Hi All,
Random questions, Ive done some research and seen lots of varied answers!!
I have a ve ssv ute lowered with coilovers and am looking at different wheels, currently have 20 x 8.5 wheels all round and need a change!!!!!
So my questions:
1) I hear that 22's are a bad option all round - does anyone have any good experiences?
2) if I get a set of 20's that are staggered (say 20x8.5 and 20x10) are they legal? I'm in nsw and need to pass rego every year?
3) if I go with the above staggered wheels is it likely I'll need to get my guards rolled?
thanks for the help!!

has anyone had any experience?
Sorry mate I can't answer your question but you are probably best speaking to the registration authority in your state. In Victoria it is VicRoads, I don't know what it is in NSW/ACT.

Depends on what you mean by a bad option.
Some owners love them and others don’t and the same can be said for 20’s as well.
Personally I like the 20’s over the 22’s and the 50 inch tyres are more readily available.
Also there could be legalities involved with 22’s and suspension mods required, both of which you'd need to look into.
2.
As dpg has said, best check with the authority in your State for peace of mind as it’s always better than relying on forums when it comes to legalities.
Here’s a list of the NSW Roads & Maritime’s Vehicle Standards Information Sheets.
Go down the page to VSI 09 – Guidelines for alternative wheels and tyres.
http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roads/safety-rules/vehicle-standards/information-sheets-specifications.html
The Maloo and new VF’s are available with optioned OEM staggered 20’s and I’m not going to advise you to do anything illegal but I’ve not heard of anyone having rego problems after fitting a VE with the sizes you’ve indicated.
I would suggest you inform your insurer to ensure your covered and you'll find giving that info to them will not raise an eyelid.
3.
Not all 20x10’s need the rear guards rolled as offsets will play a part.
If you go for an aggressive offset where the rim is level or closely in-line with the guard lip then rolling would be wise unless you are going to stretch a tyre to get around it.
But generally a 20x10 on a lowered car with say a 285/30R20 tyre would be better and easier to live with if the guards are rolled.
