Hi guys,
I know this is probably an old topic but I've found you guys on LS1 to be super helpful.
The problem is I think the gauge on my VY SS is reading wrong. Today the pointer was just above the red empty line so I filled it up (the warning light hadn't come on yet), and it only took 39.5L of fuel. I'd done 235 km of city driving since filling it up last. This has been happening consistently since I got the car late last year.
I've read that holden can do a flash fix for this? Can anyone confirm if this is true? Or does this sound about right?
I don't mind so much if it's reading wrong around town, as it doesn't hurt to keep the tank full. It's more when I take the car away, I'd like to get the most out of the tank.
Cheers

If you have the original fuel guage/sender unit for your model it might pay to have someone check the fuel part no calibration is correct for your vehicle.
Known well series 1 to series 2 swap of guage/senders cause the guage to read backwards.

Thanks Micks.
Just a little update if anyone else can shed some light.
Ran the car down until it was on the empty line and she took 42 litres to fill up. I'd done 260km, which works out to 16l/100km. My calculations tells me I should be getting 468km of driving if I used every drip of fuel in the tank.
I'd think from the empty line the car would be taking 50 - 55 litres?

I've got 58L into mine when I thought it was pretty close to dry.

Appears your guage & sender reacts to change in levels so I'd be looking at Cal settings first, unfortunately cannot be done without an aldh cable & software to interrogate the fuel settings. You could place your cluster into engineering mode & read off sender resistance in ohms as the tank empties to give you an idea of what's actually happening.
I put a clubbie cluster in my VZ which had sedan fuel cal though I sucked the details out of my old cluster & overwrite to the Clubbie one & my guage reads as close to .1-.2 of litre accuracy on fill up.

Mine can read 55 k to empty low light on and i can only ever get 58 in it not a real concern to me .

I've driven my V6 VZ until it's said 9km to empty and it still only took 62L to fill. (75L Tank) Have to say i was shitting my self as i was trying to get to the servo but after i filled i realised there was nothing to worry about. I wish it were a little more accurate.
In contrast, my SS VFII seems to be extremely accurate. I think I've had it under 30km to empty and it took 68L (73L tank)

Is only a matter of having the fuel segment properly calibrated. Found many Vy & Vz guages outta cal from the factory ;)
