Hi all,

My first post after buying an 02 VU SS Ute last week.

Let's start with a newbie question, can anyone tell me what this hole in the glove box is for??

Looks like the spot for the boot release button. No boot, no button.

Go to the wreckers and get a button off a sedan. That will confuse any nosey bugger who looks in your glove box

Am off to the wreckers this weekend to pick up a few missing bits and pieces, will now add the boot release button to my parts list!

Ok, picked up a boot release button at the wreckers, so let the fun begin!

Have another 'what's that for' question. Spring loaded switch near the bonnet catch, what's it do...

That's the alarm button if the bonnet is forced open while the car is deadlocked.

Thanks dgp, read about the deadlock feature in the owners manual, so is the alarm a standard feature, or an option?

I did note at the wreckers yesterday that all the VU,VX,VY & VZ's had the alarm switch.

It's standard, press the lock button twice on your remote.

The alarm should still arm with a single press/normal lock. Press twice for dead lock.

Lock it by pressing once with the window down, unlock it by hand and open the door. The alarm should go off. If it's deadlocked you won't be able to manually unlock it easily.
