Hi guys

Does anyone know of any recent wheels magazine or the like tyre reviews so I can do some research?

Both the Senator and the Clubby need new boots (how do they do this in pairs all of the time)

Haven't replaced tyres in a couple of years so not up to speed on good/bad/ice skating.

cheers

TI.

This should be interesting

Being in the off-road world this topic comes up all the time.
First comment goes - coopers are the best never let me down can get in places others can't and need towing every time.
Second comment - well I've had coopers and swear by bighorns, they last longer and better in mud and rock etc.
Third - I've had big horns and coopers and they are both shit when compared to BFG. They are superior and continue raving on...

It just goes round in circles and those reading are more confused about making a decision than before.

So like everyone else I have an opinion but will keep it to myself for a bit to see how this unravels :hide:

Thanks Maccas

I actually have a set of these in the Garage. Had to take them off as the insurance company (Shannons) said no to the W rating on the tyre. Going to put them on the Torana instead.

Research today has led me towards the KU39 or the PS91 Kumhos.

cheers

I'm running Bridgy RE002's on my Monaro. Can't fault them in both wet or dry and they are wearing pretty well too.

just stuck a set of Pirelli PZeros on the Clubby

my gawd.. what a difference to the shite Conti rubber
quiet, responsive to the steering, no tramlining, no shakes
great grip wet (it has been raining buckets here in Melbourne) or dry....
I would recommend you look at these (if you can get the right sizes and loading/speed ratings)

I wasn't a fan of them at all. Especially in the wet. Nitro INVOs I have now are much better in all conditions

.. an EDIT to this
they were normal PZeros, NOT the NERO version

W rating is the highest you can get tell Shannons to stick it.

Y is the highest (300Km/h) W is 2nd highest (270Km/h)

Tyre has to equal or exceed what is stamped on the vehicle compliance. Makes life harder when choosing though :)

Absolutely... especially when you MUST also check the LOAD spec for the tyre
a 92 Y will get you no respect from your insurer when the label says... 102W

Had Michelin PSS bloody good tyres and wear is ok except on the rear. Especially in my circumstance when the ACT government decided to repave the roads in lose sharp rocks. In the heat back in March April they chewed the tyres out big time.

I hear you. The amount of roadwork all around this place is crazy.

My Nitto Invos on my VX GTS have a load rating Y 93, which equates to 650kgs a corner so would think they are fine, will have to double check my placard.
