Howdy everyone,

Just wanted to get some feedback from people that may have heard or have had any experience with this eBay seller and their products.

343mm PK1 COMMODORE VB-VZ BIG BRAKE KIT HSV SIZE PBR HSV R8 TWIN PISTON BILLET | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/311574188974?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT)

I have a 04 VYII SS Sedan, it ain't no track car, however, I would like to have an upgraded brake option for the daily driver.
My main question is directed to those that have dealt with this seller and/or their products. Are these brakes actually worth it or should I be looking at Harrop "Performance upgrade" instead?

Now the listing states that they are VE calipers, correct me if I am wrong, but I thought VE calipers are not compatible with the VT-VZ series due to mounting issues?

I have also contemplated other options such as VY Clubsport brakes (330mm Front/315mm Rear) or even just go standard T2 DBA slotted with bendix ultimates all round.

Like I said any advice regarding dealings with this seller or products will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

MrFitzie

What area of the current braking performance are you looking to address? There's a few things you can do to improve the stock brakes without upgrading to a whole new kit.

If you decide to go with a full kit I would stick with the known brands: OEM (HSV), Brembo, AP Racing, Harrop, PBR or similar.

The eBay kit you linked to may be ok but I would certainly seek second opinion from someone who's used it. Those photos are not brilliant and it's hard to see the actual calipers. Also seeing adapters/dog bones there does not fill me with confidence as that means that the caliper is not originally designed for this car.

Problem you have with A/M brakes is if they weren't original eg. OEM fitment you will need to have them engineered for your vehicle depending on the state you live in.
I know most would overlook this but here in NSW it is a requirement.

Greater diameter gives greater leverage to stop the car. It can only stop as fast as the grip available. Generally if you have good tyres, your mechanical grip outweighs the ability of the factory caliper to stop at maximum retardation.

Replacing the rotors and pad will give more stops.

I would be interested to see the ADR compliance on the dog bone adapters.. Realistically though depending on what size they are cut from will probably be more than adequate. I use a set of adapters to fit the VE Type Brembo Calipers.

Ask some question like the tensile grade of the bolts supplied etc then compare them to the grade currently on the calipers. Do your research.
