View Full Version : Series 2 bonnet vents

Hi all,

I was lucky enough to find a bat shit on the bonnet of my VF that has eaten right through the paint down to the metal. Ive been looking at getting the entire bonnet repainted but im always nervous about how perfect it will match and never look quite right again. And ive noticed the mark is virtually in the exact same spot as the vents on the SII bonnets. Im hoping someone with a series 2 with the bonnet vents could take some pics for me with a measuring tape so i can tell if fitting some with fix my problem and save me having to repaint the whole thing? (showing how far down from the top, and how far in from the side etc?)

Following are some photos, sorry about the quality. Bit hard getting the ruler in the right spot but hopefully they will help. I've also shown one of the underside of the bonnet where the vent goes through.

No worries, glad to help. Hope you can get it all sorted and save having to respray the bonnet.

Just had a look at my VF2 & the vents are a recessed fit not just a matter of cutting a hole & dropping them in. Fully ally bonnet too, could be wrong but by the time you have them professionally cut filed & fitted. Cannot see how it could be done without paint as well!

Oh really, I've never looked at any in the flesh so I never noticed it. Didn't think Holden would go to that length, I was shocked they were even real vents! You might be right considering the recess etc, Damn.
