My work hack is a diesel IMAX...I actually like driving it. Last service (!0k ago) there was a shudder under brakes...No problem discs replaced off we go.
Today I was driving in 40 degree heat on the freeway and a vibration started. At first I thought it was corrugation in the freeway...then it got worse and worse...I said to the missus, I think we have a flat tyre. So I touched the brakes and the shudder was ridiculous...pulled left and I struggled to pull it up in a phone bay. For sure I had a blown tyre. Probably left front. Stopped, got out and checked all four. No problem. Something serious must be wrong... I rocked all four tyres...all good. We were the middle of nowhere in 40 degree heat. I decided to try and 'nurse' the car to safety. Got in...hit 60ks. no problem, no vibration, then 80 ks. then 100ks...stayed on 100 for the next hour and nursed it home..no shudder no vibration, no nothing. Any ideas?

I can only think tyre, out of round or a lamination issue. Doesn't explain why it was ok after a stop though. Is the car possessed?

Could it be like a sticky pad or something?

Could be wheelbearing too but repairing itself is a question. I had the opposite with a sst of tyres on the VN Clubbie all those years ago. New set of tyres then overnight the wheels appeared to go out of balance. Rebalance and all good until the car sat for a few hours. Tyres were settling and changing the balance. New tyres fixed that problem.
