Hi,

couple of issues I could use some advice on.

1. Had my car (R8 LSA) in for it first service (15k) just before Christmas. On getting it back, started to experience some overheating issues. Intermittently at idle (traffic or traffic lights) the temp would rise to the H, fan would kick in, warning chimes going off, aircon shutting down because of the temp etc etc.. So, obviously took it back in. Was told there was an air-bubble in the coolant system and this was the cause. Very sorry, they stuffed up at the last service. This was two weeks ago and since then no issues. However, to my surprise today...its happened again. WTF! It's going back in on Monday.

Any ideas, because surely it can't be an air-bubble in the coolant system again.

2. At the same first service I reported a dodgy transmission. Kept dropping out of 2nd or couldn't get into 2nd without shoving it in. Holden replaced the gear-box under warranty, sighting an issue with the gate at 2nd gear. The same problem has come back. 1st and 2nd gear now bad. WTF!

Any ideas, because surely this can't be coincidence.

This is also not my first HSV nor my first manual HSV. This has never happened before.

Any advice before I go back in on Monday would be great.

Thanks.

Diagnosis:

Internal crack in the radiator. Coolant and transmission oil mixing. Screws the transmission and causes the overheating.

Radiator and hoses being replaced. To be flushed. And gear-box being replaced as well. Again!

HSV have no record of this ever happening before. Just bad luck really.

Is there anything else I should be asking??

The old dreaded "Milkshake" problem.

It's very common on Falcons lately.

Glad you got it sorted mate.

Edit...

Just google searched "ford milkshake" as I said it's very common on Falcons, check out what comes up...

Didn't even see this thread originally. All makes sense and points to a crack internally in the radiator. As HSV are saying, I haven't heard of it happening on new cars, only older ones. Glad you're getting it sorted though
