I've been watching prices of these cars, & can only say good luck to you guys that own an XY GT, 327 Monaro, E49 Charger, XU1 etc etc, you're looking good, but there's no way I'd be spending the dollars some of these cars are fetching, the latest that I've seen, being an original (not restored) 100,000 mile XY GT (not HO) for $350K on AMCS.
I reckon there's better value in some of the Yankee stuff, saw a really nice 440 Dodge Charger at Shannons yesterday at around $80/90K & there's multitudes of really nice Mustangs, & big block Corvettes,...saw a really nice original unrestored 427Corvette with around 70K miles on the clock for about $140K.
If one feels like going to the trouble of importing (with the proper investigation etc), there's always some nice stuff in the States at seemingly a lot less money, & better value, than our cars.
Just my thoughts, Pickles.

Yeah, when you compare the prices of some of the US stuff the Aussie cars are a joke,

I saw a HK 186 "Monaro" 2 speed auto sell recently for near on $90,000 (certainly not much muscle there.) :lmao:

Even the Falcon EB XR's & VN SS are starting to go up at the moment.

I'm so glad I've kept my car all these years.

Surely there couldn't be too many 1 owner VTII GTS's in mint condition around...

Yeah, God only knows what that will be worth in another 10 years?

Can't see it dropping too much in value.

As you said Pickles the USA cars are much better value....

Just as a quick check I searched "Pontiac Firebird for under $30,000" ..... Came up with 10 cars.

I would rather drive any one of those cars than pay $90,000 for a two speed auto 186 HK Monaro.

You can have a choice of Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros & heaps of other far more exciting driving cars for that money. :yup:

Relative to purchase price and having had it for a few years that sounds pretty good for the time. My recollection is for 1973 that a GTR was about $3500, and an XU1 was about $3800. In 1973 I bought a base model Charger but 265 4 speed manual which i think was $3500

Sounds about right. I sold/traded my immaculate XU1 in 1976 for $4k for a Gemini (during the fuel crisis...)

As bad as that is, I traded my 265 4 speed Charger for a hail damaged 180B wagon. My wife says I'm a dick head, got to admit she's right, what a dumb ass. Sure wish I could go back in time and put that right.

It's market timing , aimed at retiring Baby boomers and cashed up Gen X'ers, So if buying be wary of a coming market crash or Sell, as its the perfect time to cash in
