Damaged sump plug

Hi everyone,

picked up an ecotec vx as a daily and realised someone has rounded the sump plug. I tried the bolt extractor without any success. Anyone got any ideas on how to get this thing off...If I recall correctly someone used an oxy?

I had am old VS ecotec many yrs ago with same problem. I used a small set of Stilsons 150mm ones to get it out. Vice grips or anything else would not touch it. Failing that tac weld a nut onto it?

.. as long as the sump plug is steel, I grab the MIG and weld a nut to it (as Mick suggested)

The heat from the welding also helps loosen ém up (but will melt a plastic or fibre seal)
