Hey guys, doesn’t look like my issue has been discussed on here in a while.
Just had new tyres recently installed and I’ve got rubbing. Guards were rolled some time ago and not to a very high standard.
Any recommendations on someone able to roll and possibly pump guards in Melbourne? The bumper bracket looks to have been shaved down already but the original job could do with a bit of attention.
Happy to travel but live inner north and work out of Sunshine north.

Mate, I had similar issues not long ago and it was incorrect tyre height that was the main problem. Are you running the right profile tyre? ie a 35 profile tyre will have a lot more height than a 30 profile.

That’s exactly my problem, I went from 285 to 275 but wanted more sidewall. The 285’s never rubbed even when I was carrying tools.
I could raise the ride height and or add a touch of camber but I’d like to be able to squeeze what I’ve got, or possibly allow for any future decisions/mistakes. It hasn’t been a daily for a long time so I’m using the covid19 crisis to show it some love.

What profile though? Are the 275's a 30 profile? I initially had 275/35 20 on a 10 inch Simmons with rolled guards and still had issues. Moved to a 275/30 20 and no more issues. Massive difference in tyre height between those two profiles.

They’re a 35 profile on a 10inch rim, Don’t know backspace though. I’m pretty sure I’ve had 275/35’s before which necessitated the original crappy guard rolling effort but these ones take up more space again, though wheels have changed to fit brembos since then too.
I should mention this is on a VE ute.

Same, was running a 35 profile on 10 inch simmons and had massive issues. Went to a 30 profile and now zero issues. This is on a VE sedan lowered on coilovers.

Yep ditch those tyres far better than any further guard rolling. ;)

I want the original job cleaned up so I’m going to explore getting them to fit, I don’t think there is much needed and it’s more the intersection between guard and bumper that is the issue. I’ve probably done 50km in the last 6 months so I’m unlikely to need new tyres soon, though Saturday nights 50m from my warehouse seems to be where tyres go to die, could wander down.
