LS1 Power Steering Pump oiling?

Hi all,

Fitted a new aftermarket power steering pump to my VU SS ute a few days ago. Since fitting it I’m hearing a low level whine which I think is coming from the pump, although to complicate things, I also fitted a new genuine alternator in the same wrenching session.

Notice the power steering pump has an oiling point, or what looks like an oiling point? Do these pumps need to lubricated, or are they fit and forget?

No oiling required, did you bleed the system as per the workshop manual? Can be noisy if you just fill without getting all the air out.

First time I’ve had a go a steering pump change. So looks like it’s time for a few lessons on pump bleeding on YouTube Uni.
