Hard to believe it has been so long. Feels like only yesterday. I remember the exact spot I was when I heard the news.

.. in 19 Seventy mumble something some time back then, I went to Dandy town hall where Brockie gave a road safe/drink driving talk..
Met the man himself.

Some months later on a cold wet Saturday night, I removed about 250 yards of a farmers fence out back of Clyde (SE Melb) thru bad driving.

So I took up Brockie's offer, come out to Calder and I will teach you to drive. I enrolled in the Peter Brock/Bob Jane
Driving School. (It collapsed a few years later but i have done more. mainly with murcotts or Driver Dynamics since)
I learnt a lot about how to drive

Not that long afterwards, (late 78 says my memory after VB came out )I walked into the GMH boardroom at Salmon st, to have a meeting
with my boss (Bill DeLong finance Director) and the MD (Chuck Chapman ) about external 'inventory control and procedures'

Found..... Brockkie, HArves, 2 guys from the dealer council , Holdens Ad Agency (Patts) and one JRock and Bags there too.
Reason I was there?.. to a develop and have operating an inventory system, with paperwork for an external vehicle building operation.
The 'office' responsibility and its compliance with GM Holden procedures was mine.. and so, I helped get HDT Vehicles going.

Caught up with Peter over my remaining years at GMH.... as a signatory, someone with authority to sign a stock requisition, a gate
release, I signed out quite a few Holden V8 engines, diffs, panels.. experimental stuff to Mr Brock and mainly Neil Burns( him engine guru)

so yeah... the news was a shock! the circumstances of the accident hard to take! He was the guy I went to after taking out a very
long length of fencing, doing what I did, sliding off the road at high speed. I hit a fence post, he hit a tree :bawl:
