Yeah the Lions last roar at Bathurst, already stitched up the manufacturers title for the year, SVG will take some beating for the championship so now all we need is a Holden Bathurst victory to send the brand off.

I think the main contenders this year will be (in no particular order) Mostert/Coulthard, SVG/Tander, Waters/Moffatt, Davison/Davison & ADP/D'Alberto

but then again there may be someone out of left field (like last year) that blows everyone away

me... ? I love racing in the rain (yeah, weird I know)

one year I did a 6 hour 4 car team event (you go out ...do 20 laps,the next driver goes out in his car.. does 20 laps etc) at Phillip Island
.... it rained for most of the event and add a few thunderstorms. Loved it...

this is my other half with a team board (me ? I was in the pit garage in the dry :) ) It was wet rather !

^^ Yep - a fitting result. Yesterday was the first time in almost 50 years that I didn't watch the entire race. I watched the start/first 15 mins & another 30 mins at about the 3pm mark. All the cars look the same & it's lost it's "tribal" appeal.

What a fantastic race, one of the best I've seen & a fitting win for the Lion's last 1000.
The last 20 laps or so were absolutely enthralling, initially Cam looked as if He had extra pace, then after his last stop after "adjusting" the car He seemed to lose pace, then Chaz seemed to be catching SVG particularly around the top of the circuit, but SVG managed to hold on. Just seconds separating the 1st three cars, after 1000ks of racing, best finish that I can remember, Supercars would be REALLY happy with this event & the emotion it created.
I was also really happy for Ritchie Stanaway, who really showed what He could do, particularly in the wet. I think Murph was a bit overwhelmed by it all, but overall an 11th spot for them was pretty good.
After the terrible weather over the preceding 3 days, race day was pretty good, far better than expected, pretty dry all day.
I see that SVG got caught up in the emotion of the event relative to Holden fans, & what the win meant to them.
Enjoyed this one immensely.

Of course I should also mention that it wasn't just the race day that I enjoyed, I enjoyed the whole 4 days of a pretty good TV coverage.
From the first action on Thursday, and much in view of the inclement weather, there was HEAPS of action both on & off the track, with a large number of variously damaged vehicles having to be repaired, hopefully before their next appearance. Some of the Supercar damage was massive, & to see it repaired, sometimes in a matter of hours is pretty impressive,...there'd be some pretty tired team members at the moment I reckon.
Yes, so for me, it's not just the race, I enjoy watching the cars getting "tuned up" from their first appearance on the Thursday, gradually, allowing for all sorts of issues, track conditions etc, to their optimum specs for Sunday's race. I also enjoy the inter team "banter", and getting some idea of what's going on in the pit garages. "Larko" is excellent with this sort of stuff & explaining it to "mere mortals" like me.
So, for me a pretty good 4 days, during which I was kept fed & lubricated by Karen, including of course my yearly "Bathurst Breakfast"!

What a race! enjoyed the whole day and great to see the lion win on it's last ever outing

Yep, totally agree, it was a great days watch (I missed all practice sessions due to work and family commitments ... which bummed me a little as I love wet racing ...... just that little bit more exciting b/c you know it can go t1ts up at any second - did manage to get in front of the box on Sat for the shootout but damn it they cancelled it on me .... LOL); So after getting flogged (worked till middnight Thur and 3:00AM on Friday night god damn it ........ ya gota love support roles) I pushed the wife and kids out the door on Sunday morning and spent the day sucking cans and talking to the TV.

Totally enjoyed it and was stoked to see Holden take the chocolates .....
