Email Notification Explanation

For anyone that is in the know, can you shed some light on the following:

My email notification doesn't seem to work as it used to. It was my understanding that in your profile if you have email notification set to yes you would get an email if anyone replied to a thread you participate in.

Or according to the help you could subscribe to a thread without participating and also receive an email notification and achieve the same result.

I do both of these and only seem to receive an email once out of every ten or so replies.

Also I constantly have to keep subscribing to threads because for no apparent reason i've been unsubscribed.

Also the view new posts doens't seem to work properly either any more. One minute I get new posts and then threads that I know have new messages in don't show up in new posts at all.

I don't know if this is only happening to me or not. I don't usually drill down all the forums to see new threads but use the "view new posts" instead but lately i've been missing heaps of stuff.

Very annoying.

As I understand it, you only get an email notification for the first post to a monitored thread between each of your visits. (The first one is enough to indicate there were replies to the thread.)

Not sure about the unsubscribing of threads, or missing lots of threads when searching for new. It may be a corrupt cookie - I'd suggest clearing them all in your browser. The show new posts does miss the occasional thing for me as well though.

I'd have to say the same thing is happening to me. I would have logged in 7 or 8 times between Guv's post about the last cruise and it actually happening, but I never saw it until there was a review posted!

I use four different computers to access the forums, so I wouldn't have thought it was cookie related.

The gremlins have snuck in...
