I was just wondering on the thread list, what the stuff to the left of the thread title means?

Sometimes theres a pink or yellow folder, sometimes a smilie face with sunnies, sometimes a down arrow.

Click on a forum.

eg http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=1

and look torwards the bottom.

That will explain it to you.

Plus the ones with a black dot means that you have posted in it.
