When anyone meets my girlfriend, SHHH. She thinks we were just picking up a car trailer in Melbourne.
Pete was a bit unsure we would crack it when he picked the car up from my place, but with the diff change he was confident.
No extractors, Standard exhaust manifolds, standard cats. It still has the original 301 rwhp tune Sam did back in Aug.
301 rwhp at Sams on Tuesday, 307rwhp on G&Ds on Wednesday.
Well done Pete

109mph has been achieved before and more on stock setups. It just goes to show and proove a good ET is all down to driver and suspension/tyres .. in this case driver, diff and tyres... :)
Remember Delco has done close to this 12.9@109 on street rubber... Time for Delco to hit the track with some slicks I think :)

Wouldnt matter if Delco did as he has done more work to his car than that. That car had stock exhaust manifolds etc... Delco has every bolt on possible except Super Charger doesnt he??

Don't wanna hijack this thread but can someone quickly explain what a spool diff is and how its different to a standard diff?

Spool means locked be means of a solid coupling - a spool-= between the left and right axles. No 'differential' function

I drove this car on Wednesday, f'n strong!! and with a couple of choice mods, has to be the cheapest 12 sec LS1 commodore ever in the world!! The car dyno'ed 229 rwkw with no tricks or hassles about the only street unfreindly part of the car is the spool, but ive been ensured that its a fine for a daily driver although im tipping justice's wife is going to tick the 'get rid of it now' option when they get home... oh and maybe the drag ram intake??!!
big  to Peter and his driving ability and Justice's wife for not knowing what wont kill her.

Good point Sidey. Proves a good time can come at little cost. This was my reason for doing it as well as getting Peter to drive it. It now shows people that they can buy one of these cars and with little cost and prctice can do great times.
The car was 30k from the Auctions + cost of a Mafless tune.
Tyres and 4.11 diff were borrowed from Pete.
I promise I wont start on about TB's or that other word.

This car is really not supposed to be a trophy. It is basically a prime example for all of us, just how good these things really are.
I apologise to Richard (CLUBVX), because after meeting him at G&D’s the other day, I understand how much he really wanted to be the first with this. We booked the track 3 weeks ago. Sorry mate and I wish you all the best on your track attack this Sunday.
The car is as honest as it is. It was bought from auction with 30k on the clock and has now travelled an additional 10k since the tune. It still makes 301rwhp or 224rwkw on Sam’s Dyno I picked the car up from Darren’s place on Monday and took it down to Sam’s. We put my trusty diff in because, why not! 3.9’s would have done it anyway but I sold that diff to HRT8. Whilst the diff was out, Tom suggested I throw on an old cat back system with a dented muffler because it would possibly be better than the original. (not sure, can’t tell you, but we did it anyway). I borrowed cat12z cold air set-up and took it for a road test. It felt good. Real good. That’s all we did, the rest of the car was standard. The clutch is probably the original unit too. Slick’s went on at the track, spare tyre was removed and that’s about it.
No laptop at the track, no analysing, just driving.
The best time was 12.58 @ 109.85 mph! With plenty of runs in the low 12.6’s. MPH picked up from low 109’s when the temp dropped a little into the early evening.
I guess the moral of the story is, if your unopened car makes more than this rwkw, you too can do it! If you could bolt some more stuff on and get serious with the set-up, I’d say 11’s are very possible.
Good cars really, aren’t they? :)

Very well done on the time for such a basic car with limited mod's but i thought the quest was or is for an unopened LS1 m6 to get into the 12's with street tyres, street legal diff and the CAI as it's driven on the street ect as has been done by 2 auto version's from WA?
I'm sure it is something that could be acheived by you guy's and is something i would really like to see.

Hi
To Plan B: No need to apologise for cracking a 12 second un-opened ls1 with an M6! Lets see it has only taking me since last October and the price of a new clubsport and mods and repairs including 2 x gear stick popouts followed by two tilt trays, new drive axles, 5 sets of rear tyres, 5 separate Calder Park meets and my 3rd Heathcote meet this weekend and I still aren't their "YET"!
Nothing for you to be worried about mate, I am standing tall! Oh well I am going back to do what I have been doing since I heard you hit a 12.....:bawl:
And yep reading the "PLAN B DID IT" post was the most heartfelt pain I have encountered this year no doubt about it, but the post I put up on Sunday night will be "CLUBVX DID IT IN STYLE!" and my pain will be long gone.
Ready to kick some ass!

If Richie breaks into the 12's on Sunday on street tyres then he will still be the first unopened, street trim LS1 to break into the 12's.
Slicks and a spool diff make a huge difference and most definitely contributed to the times seen on Thursday. Add the fact the Peter is a most excellent  operator of the M6 down the 1/4. But the claim on the table is for a street trim M6 to break into the 12's. I'm sorry but that still hasn't happened.
Remember, I ran 13.1 @ 108mph with ~225rwkw on standard road tyres and the stock M6 diff (3.46). I battled for 2 days to better this time and gave up when the gearbox started making funny ratching noises (sold the car 3 weeks later too)!!
I'm really looking forward to tomorrow.

Didnt know they would let you on the track with the a/c on. Usually some condensation will drip from the car when stationary.

Talk about the goalposts changing after the ball has been kicked.
Was that 13.1 backed up with another run. A backup run proves no timing errors. Peter actually ran a 12.2 but we couldnt back it up so it doesnt even rate a mention.
Let me get this straight as we dont want to waste our money here. How does 4.11 and slicks vary from TBs, big MAFS cold air 3.9, extractors, tune, and all the other shit that goes on these cars.
Doesnt matter anyway. Points been proven.
Good to see that the bench racing faternity are still alive and kicking. I thought it was only me in the bench racing club.:moon:

13.1 was run at both Heathcote and Calder. 3 days apart. Different tracks, one day and one night, can't get more validation than that.
As far as your other comments, the goalposts are firmly where they were planted months ago. The challenge went out for the first upopened M6 to run 12's in street trim. I'm sure there are plenty of Vic members who can back me up on this (including some of the guys who were there with you on Thursday). Peter's run doesn't meet the challenge. This in no way is ment to take anything from the times, they are indeed hugely impressive and a credit to those involved. However, my point is there is still the opprtunity to claim the street trim category.
And watch the references to bench racer's. I have only used a ring in driver once (and that was very early in the piece). All my times are my own. :moon:

First of all congrats on a great time.
In reference to the above I think Scud and others reference to 'Street Trim' is not unmodified or 100% legal but at least streetable. While under bonnet mods, exhaust, diff ratio swaps are considered streetable locked diffs and slicks don't fall into the same category. They are also the kind of mods even the dumbest cop would pick up on if you drove it on the street like that.
Give PlanB a run with some street rubber and without the locked diff and then no one will have anything to complain about. Should be able to pull a mid-high 12 still with the M6. I guess to be specific everyone should have asked to see the quickest M6 stock internal LS1 on street tyres.

Ive done it (but not unopened!) on B530's. Its difficult getting a reasonable launch on street tyres and into the 12's (and bloody frustrating knowing you have blown it with wheelspin in the first 2 secs!), regardless of how much power youve got.

Great driving PlanB!
Next up, how'd you like to take my wagon down the strip? It'd be cool if you could poke it in to the 12's with standard diff/street tyres. I reckon the m6 wagon would be easier to get off the line due to the extra weight over the bum. Doubt I'd get anywhere near it but Pete might!

Hi
You might find that the word "STREET TRIM" when mentioned at this website refers to and includes mods that people use on the street for street use and not specifically drag or circuit use.
But I may be wrong?
