Hi all

Just a short note for those motor sport nuts that the HSV Owners Club of Vic will be running their sprint round at Sandown on Feb 8th.

A full field of 70+ cars have been confirmed and the event is open to the public to come and see a wide range a cars put through their paces.

I picked up the Brock from the engine builder Tuesday and now I have a week to bed her on before the big day.

Come along and have some fun with a few fellow memebrs

Who else is coming?????

Cheers Stu

Make sure you come and say Hi - I'll be pretty hard to miss with the anti social Marlboro signage on the VH

The dyno day on the 14th sounds like a bit of fun, and will be interesting to see the results from some of the cars in the open class.

Agree - the Dyno day should provide some interesting results espically from the 300 Club (should be 400 though).

Bummer I'll be interstate on the 14th so you'll have to fill me in on the action

Cheers Mate

I'm pretty impressed with the end result - always wanted a car that set off car alarms as it drove past.

Putting her on the dyno next week so hopefully I'll be able to post up some healthy numbers then

Mate

My car is bloody jinxed.

Spent Tue - Sat in Sydney so I left the beast in good hands and she had the Autometer Tacho and mechanical gauages install, a good check up, new rear pads and SRF brake fluid and a nice dyno tune (205 rwkw - not bad for a VH with 500kms on the motor)

Anyway picked her up at 6:00pm Sat night and it was purring like a dream until 2kms from home - the bloody diaphram in the clutch collapsed:flipoff:

It was too late to do anything with it so a flagged at turn one all day. It was a 40c day and many cars outbraked themselves which kept me busy sweeping the track.

Saw a few of the boys out there but Dane disappeared mid way through the day. A mates VTII R8 created a new breathing system when a rod went through the block but other than that a great safe day

Hopefully I'll be there next time

Ps Dane - mate we don't stay out on the track in 40c for the fun of it. Next time put your hand out the window on the cool down lap to all flaggies as a sign of appreciation - it goes a long way

Oh that was you who told me to slow down at the corner after I did two 360s the previous lap! Didnt outbrake myself just went in a bit hot!! It was funny I was trying to grab a gear whilst spinning! Once I stopped I gunned it up and waved at the Ford flaggies at the next corner but they didnt seem to be impressed! It was a great day though. Th e HSV boys really put on a good day. The Flaggies man they must have been hot! Good job boys!!

Best times for the people I know were as follows.

Grassy 1.29 **Still on his stock brakes!! 2 pots!!**

Dane 1.30

Me 1.33

Looking forward to the next day!!:driving:

I wasn't telling you to slow down I was worshiping your style - Awesome:bounce:

Man you were the only car spraying sparks from your calipers - either down to the metal or high friction pads - looked great though

See you at the Island in April

I had sparks coming off my brakes!!! They were reasonably new pads, just stock HSV ones as I wanted to see how they went before I went out and got some new ones!! They must have been super hot or something! I am assuming that was off the fronts?? Yeah the spin was good fun!! I bagged it up when I finally stopped! I thought I may have flat spotted my tyres and that they would need a bit of a burnout to get them round again but they seemed pretty good. That was my first ever track day and I guess my times werent super quick but I think I went ok for my first ever race. I think with a decent set of pads I could have shaved some time off. I am looking forward to the next day though!! Good work on the flagging though, someone has to do it and it was damn hot!

Great to meet you on Sunday. It was a great day, sensational effort in turn one in that heat, hopefully your car will be ready for Phillip Island.

Pooga - you do realise you are now hocked for life or at least until the handbrake (oops the good wife) says no more

Mark - great effort on the track, looked as though the car held up well. Only 10 more weeks till the next one. May have to go outside the club to PIARC to get a fix sooner

Cheers Stu

.... Firstly, as posted after previous track days; well done to the organizers.

Big Wig, your assumption of non-appreciation is well and truly incorrect. If in the first and only sprint session i participated in I didnt wave at you, sooo sorry mate. Could have something to do with the first corner is the highest speed and from a drivers point, not the best spot to let go and give a wave.

Maybe ya should check with the other flaggies along the back turns and straight, I even flashed the headlights at the dude's at the top of the back straight as thanks. :D

Maybe if I was out there longer than 5 laps, a few more waves would have occured, will save one just for you.

I had a small issue with a loose manifold bolt, in hind sight would have been safe as houses to continue, but I took the easy and causious approach and withdrew. And I'll tell ya, the temp in car, in a race suit is quite hot, so all had a sweaty day dubbies.

Well done to all, participants, organizers and Flaggies. :goodtime:

PIARC stands for the Phillip Island Auto Racing Club (I think) and holds events similar to HSV.

Can find details at www.piarc.com.au

Other "good" clubs include the Maserati, Alpha and Porchse clubs.

I'll see what I can find out on upcoming events and let you know

well apart from the heat it was a good day ending up with a 1.28. lap time in the vl , now that i have the suspension sorted and the brakes seem to standing up to the task ill pull the engine out and try to make more power and bigger revs, currantly i have 222.2 rwk and it wont rev past six grand so on the front and back straights im sitting on limiter for 200 meters !!!!!
cheers spank :driving:
