For those that are asking are we going to make it to Heathcote, the answer is yes with time to spare. The guys are running to plan and everything thing is running like clockwork. It makes such a difference working with professionals (or should I say watching professionals work). At times us CHEQUE BOOK RACERS as we are referred to by some have no idea on some things, but the guys at Sams and Mood have every detail planned out and just like to see me stress. Here are some more photos. It's amazing the amount of people that pop in and visit the shop and just pick up tools and start helping. Most of them I dont even know but they all help out. Remember these guys have built a 3/4 chassis car from a shell in 2 weeks. A huge job that I had no idea about until I watched it come together.

And here's our old mate Criso doing his impression of a council worker  I must say I love the wheelie bars and the Parachute.

Good work Justice. What's with all the wires? Looks like you're mounting the Sydney telephone exchange in the passengers footwell.....

Always liked white for a colour, reminds me of the fridge.... :p

Good luck and hope you get the results you're after

Hey Darren, start getting a production line happening like Henry Ford, and then we could all have one real cheap. ;)

I am just booking flights now for the driver and crew specialist now.

IT WILL BE THERE! Cheques are the easy part. Building it is a bitch!!

Before I forget. Thanx to all that have sold me parts they had for their cars.
I still cannot believe the amount of people that offer to help no matter what time. Mick the mechanic, Danny the painter. Both have their own businesses and families yet worked late over easter to help as well as last night.
I am pretty happy right now.

Real Shakey. You all know I am a tightarse.

Seriously you could not pay for the effort everybody is putting in at Moods and Sams on customer cars to make sure there are some great times at the event. Those of you that use Sams services such as Craig and HRT8 know what I am talking about. Moods are the same. Racers that want to see cars on tracks. Moody has stopped all work for 2 weeks in his shop to do my car.

The event what it is all about. Hopefully we can make the LS1 Nats an event people walk away from going wow that was great and want one next year.

Cheers
Darren

Ps thanx for the PM's wishing us luck.

Everyones a comedian!

Just got home from getting ready for Dutton. Leave for Goulburn tomorrow.

You forgot to mention the new project Criso!! :D Too many projects too little time.

Voodoo.

Glass panels have been made, having trouble getting somebody to bring them from Melb to Sydney so I will drive the truck down next weekend and pick them all up. Criso, Moody, Danny and Pete are hounding me to get it out on the track so a couple of weeks should see us finish it off, hire WSID and give it some shakedown runs before pulling it all apart and getting it painted. Will keep you informed though.

Yep its still there taking up space. Has been pulled down and had the front cut off and made into a full chassis car.

Ive run out of money. Anyone care to make donations. On a more serious note I only get interested in it about a month or two before the LS1 Nationals each year. I'm glad its not finished as Ive got nowhere to park it. I will have to pull my finger out though and do something with it or sell it. one or the other

Yep its a shame. You've now shamed me into getting interested again :D . The boys have just ordered a left hand drive rack from the states and are going to get back into it. I dont think that I have any real chance of catching the C&V boys as I really dont want to keep throwing the big bucks at it. May just put one of the engines I have already into it and see how it goes first. It would be nice to run a N/A 8. Yes I am a bit of a dreamer with N/A 8's but as I always say, "If I aim low I will always acheive", therefore I will aim high and just keep trying. It will be good to see a few more race cars out there! :D

Look at it this way Darren, even if it does not run an 8 you'll still have a sh1tload of fun with it and that's what it is all about isn't it? Good luck with it, I hope you get it there.

Thankyou for the kind words. It will definately get there with my renewed interest. Its always good to get a few digs to get a bit of fire back in the belly. I will go out and try and catch Craig and Pete. They have both been a great help to me with the car and give me a nudge to keep going. They are doing great work at the track now and they share their wisdom which will make it easier for me when I finally get it going.

Truth be known I will probably never drive it. I have no real interest in going that fast down a track between 2 concrete walls. Yep I am a chicken so I will leave the driving to someone else that knows what they are doing. For me it is more about the fun of having the toys and organising the crap that goes with having them.

Even for the Dutton stuff, I look like putting a good driver in my car. For me it is about trying to get the best out of what you have got. At the moment the weak link in my clubby is me. That was proven at the Sydney Dutton with Rick in the car. He was a consistant 2 seconds quicker than me around Eastern Creek. I know my limitations and I am not to proud to say that I will never be a race car driver in this lifetime but I do enjoy seeing the clubby giving the Porsches etc a good run for their money.

Don't feel lonely Darren, I built a car back in the 70's that was pretty ordinary with me in it, I sold it to a well known person and he won the series in it the next season  It is still about the fun and the challenge though mate, don't lose sight of that. Even if you don't drive it you'll still celebrate just as hard if it gets there.

   Priceless. He is such a luuuurvley bloke. Full of encouragement. I am the first to admit I am the biggest under achiever in drag racing (always Gunna, but we all know gunna doesnt count and talk is cheap so I will have to start doing). Have to wait and see if Tuna enters the Dutton then, and see what he achieves. Me N/A 412, HSV105 Whipple blown 408 and Tuna in a Turbo. What a nice battle. My little N/A would be the underdog, something I dont mind No guts no glory! I'd even pay Tunas entry if he beats my car.

I think in the Duttons I am currently sitting with about 5 rally's 1st in class and 1 first of the losers (2nd) once. Not bad for a underachieving Drag racer. One win was even against a V8 supercar driver in a factory Monaro (it was my horsepower not talent that gave me that win) but its on the scoreboard. Horsepower definately helps and is more important than talent. Its also great fun racing somebody instead of a clock. No excuses just win or lose. When the Green flag drops it doesnt matter how well you talk!

I think your being a bit harsh on yourself there Darren. I mean Rick is a professional race driver and would still be near the top echelon of drivers around the place. After seeing you guys go around Wakefield it was hard to pick who was in the car at any point so I'd say your doing pretty bloody well for a weekend hacker. And even Rick wouldn't have got close to those well sorted Evo's in the twisty events.

I thought enjoyment came first, and winning second - I'll never win a V8 Supercar round myself, but i'm buggered if my blood sweat and tears are going to be used by some smart arse with more talent than me... :D

P.S - What times did the Clubby do around Eastern Creek. And on what tyres ?? I'm just curious as i'm about to embark on a VX Improved Production racecar to replace the RX-7... :)

Hi Paul long time no hear. Rick Did a 1.469 and I did a 1.49 on Bridgestone semis. Hope to do a bit more on setup to get the power down. On the race car front Give me a buzz as I may have one for sale soon (ex GTP car). As far as winning goes there is only winning and losing (1st and 1st of the losers). Ultimately I would love to see the car get outright wins like we did at qld raceway but they are a lot harder to come by.

Cmon Big Marty (Eastlake) . We are all loverly people here. Love to see you enter the Lambo Gallardo. There would be no better feeling than beating something worth that much with an old shitbox VX   Beat one before so I cant see it being too much of a problem the second time :D It would probably be easier to beat than your Turbo :p ;) but you wont know till you try. Cmon in the waters fine. I know its been a while since you've done the circuit stuff but with someone with your talent it wont be a problem or are you to use to going in a straight line. Remember you need to concentrate for more than 11 seconds at a time

You will only see that at the drag strip! But you never know until you try. Stephen Richards didn't do it in the Holden Motorsport Monaro (we had more power) so I doubt you will, but it would be good fun to see you try. Good to see you aiming high. Gives you further to fall.

BTW the time we beat the Holden Monaro with Stephen Richards I was running the Powerdyne setup with standard tune (before LS1 edit) just goes to show they are not a bad thing especially at the price you have them for. great midrange for coming out of the corners.

ahhhhh Blower Cheat! :)
Anyway D at AIR we can line up side by side, keep on going over the start line, then its whoever is hardest on the picks into turn 1, and then who keeps into it on the high side of the old Nascar bowl (thats the quick line) that wins the race! :) :) ;)
None of this 'home game' crap either!

I am up for that. I guess it then becomes a case of who is prepared to lose it all will win. I suggest you get a roll cage first and sponsorship from a panel beater just in case I get close to you. Remember Cole Trickle? Rubbins racing. Home game crap? Whats that? One at your home track and one at mine. Loser pays the transport costs.

Each person could have 10 laps practice first to even it up. Have to make sure my peticote doesnt get caught up in the accellerator though.

Now, with the amount of wedge and stagger naturally engineered into my Clubsport it doesnt tend to get too loose when taking the high line at AIR. I've been studying on ESPN, and I suggest that maybe you might want to trade the petticoat for one of those little air flaps that pops up when you are going backwards. Not only stops the slide, but lets the hot air out the ****pit too! :)
Home game? You NSW ladies aren't man enough for a true high speed NASCAR 'bullring' and Im sure there will be plenty of that!
