It's a bit like parking around the cbd on the Gold Coast, it's easier & cheaper to pay the parking fine.

and not one death.... as if speeding is to blame, there would be no getting tired at the wheel at 250km/h either...

There was a similar Cannonball race in australia. Held out here in the N.T. and a Ferrari crashed into a marshalling area at high speed and killed a few marshals... Guvmint banned the race from australia...

One of the members from the BMW M5 board races his Porsche GT2 in the Gumball... Heaps of great videos and pics in that link...

On a side note to the Gumball3000, when the cars reached Morocco, the King of Morocco told the police that the Gumballers could travel as fast as they wished, and weren't to be pulled over. What a nice guy!!

He never would, because the opposition would rant and rave about how they disagree with his decision until the end of time  - just like everything else

I was reading on Team132's website (BMW M Coupe) that as they were driving thru morocco at 240kph, the cops were pulling over and waving to the gumballers...

They've also reported some cars that haven't fared so well. Like Enzo's crashing into local slow-pokes, Vipers dying mid rally... ect. Quite a list of exotica...

Who's up for taking a Nations Cup Monaro to the Gumball next year?? I'm sure we can scrape together the cash for shipping the car to wherever it will be held next year, the £8500 entry fee, fuel and accommodation for a few team members...
