View Full Version : Gen 111 Engine Numbers

My HSV VX R8 has succumbed to the LS1 monster and fortunately it is still under warranty. I left it at our local Holden dealer on Monday to have the engine rebuilt (piston slap). When I rang them today to see how things were going, they advised me that the engine had to be replaced and that they would need my vehicle for another 2 to 3 weeks. If possible I would like to retain the same engine no.( all build nos. match etc.). Has anyone out there been able to achieve this? If so did GM put XX"s through the new engine no. and then stamp your original no. above it? For those out there that have had there engine replaced, how long did it take your dealer to get another engine delivered.

Did the dealer explain why the motor had to be replaced, what did they find when they stripped it down? You might want to ask if you are getting a new engine or a recond one.

My new engine took one week to arrive after it was ordered ,fitting was completed in 1 day :)

Hi, I had a new engine to replace my original rattler. You will have to change the records at the RTA (or whatever). The service centre gave me all the documentation.

I work with saundersb and witnessed the tears today. The engine has been rebuilt once before (before saundersb owned it) and apparently, it must have been bored, so now they don't want to bore it any more. Believe that engine is a newie, not reco'd (at least thats what they tell you). And the guy that got his donk within a week must have a great dealer! I've been screwed over so badly by the dealer that my friend took his R8 to, that I refuse to take my car there anymore...told the customer relations manager as well. Instead I drive an hour to have anything done in Aspley. And the local guy is literally 2 mins down the road!!! I told him he was crazy... :rolleyes:
