My car was 2 weeks from it's first birthday and has already got it's first smash. It wasn't bad and no one was hurt. My sister didn't see my car behind hers and reversed her pajero's towbar straight into the front of my car. It unfortunately collected the front bar, headliight and bonnet, all which will need to be replaced.

It will all be covered under insurance, so it will get fixed. What I'm worried about is being quicksilver, will it come back with a paint job as good as before. I know silver is one of the hardest colours to match up, and the bonnet is one of the most noticable panels on the car.

Just wondering if any of you out there have had their car resprayed in silver and how it came out? Is there anyway to get holden to do it, or do they just contract that sort of work out to panel beaters?

I know how you feel. I was parked behind my dad's car and he went to reverse thinking my car was parked on the road and his towbar (EB Falcon) went straight over my towbar (my car is low) and stopped when his bar kissed my bar. Worse thing of all was that when i came running out he blamed me becuase i did not move my car !!
You can never win. :(

They will usually have to spray both front guards (silver) as well when they spray the bonnet as its pretty hard to match. I've seen a few silver cars around with a bonnet that looks a totally different colour to the rest of the car. It's a tricky one to match as different levels of light will produce different reflections if the tops of the guards are not resprayed with the bonnet :shiner:

no good.

lots of stories like this, should always look behind before moving, could be a person and not a car behind

I feel your pain. I walked out this morning to find a tow-bar sized hole in the front bar of my car. no note, just a hole :(

I can't believe that some d!ckhead can do that and not leave a note. It's bad enough when your car gets damaged, having to pay for someone elses carelessness is not fair.

At least my sister has good insurance and everything will get sorted. My only concern is paint job I will be getting.

Technology has come a ways even in the good ole panel shops.....matching by eye, little bit more of that, less of this, etc. is a thing of the past.......programs like Chrome-A-Vision WILL MATCH 100%.........so use a shop with similiar/same software.

Just went in to the panel beater so he could have a look. He said he finds silver not a problem to match. He said tiger mica was the worst, with 15 slight variations of the colour coming from the holden factory. So with abit of luck it should come back looking mint. Also going to try get a ss bumber replaced instead of the standard sv8-executive front bumper. Does anyone know the price difference between the two? May aswell try and get a positive out of this.

Yeah, I jumped on my motorbike one morning to go to work and found that some bugger had reversed into it. How did I know? My handlebars were at a 30 degree angle when the wheel was straight ahead. :)

Nothing a few size 9 kicks with my boot couldn't fix until I could get the triple clamps done properly.

A note would've been nice.
