HI. I have 17x8 wheels (VR Clubby type) on my car and I am not sure which tyres to get..
I have tried Bridgestone S-02, S-03's, Pirelli P7000 and am not happy with any of them.. Anybody got ideas on which ones to try next ?
Thanks. :p

I had the Michelin Pilot Sports on my car and they were the best tyres I've had on it so far by miles (far far better than S02's or S03's). But they charge an absolute arm and a leg for them so they're not what you'd call a bargain......

I would be willing to spend around about $250-300 per tyre.
I need some tyres with stiff sidewalls and are good in the rain...

Maybe try the Yokohama A539s. I have got them in 15s (stock rims) on my car, and they grip very well in the wet. Wear isn't too bad, probably get 35 000kms out of a set. Not sure if the 17" version would fit in your price bracket, as I think the 16" version is around $220 a corner.

Cheers,

I have Michelan Pilot Sports on mine at the moment as well and would have to say that they are by far the best tyre I have ever had. They are 225 which is smaller that stock width and grip better than porsche cup 265's I have run in the past. If you want best bang for ya buck I would have to say Wan Li's as they are the cheapest and last the longest with a suprising amount of grip.

Try some Falkens, thats what im using on my VR SS, 235/45/17. They are great in the wet & dry, they also are great value!!!!

I probably drive car hard that is why they dont last as long..Try some Falken Azenis RT215 -they are a street legal semi slick @ $250 a pop for your tyre size -you wont get many kms out of them if you are getting 20 k from you other ones but they are very sticky when warm -I found tempe tyres the cheapest as I was quoted up to $390 a pop - see here http://www.tempetyres.com.au/
