what a week end

Saturday morning I get told by the missus do not make plans for tonight by the missus

I get that sinking feeling of another dinner at the outlaws.

any hows we head over to the out laws and thats where I am told is where we a re leaving the kids and then I can not belive my ears as she says now we a re heading for WSID

get to WSID and I am in heaven when she says we are guests of some people from work and they have a corporate box here wow!!! just gets better.

my wife takes me on a night out at WSID and she has snagged a box - she loves me :lol:

any how get to the box and I am gob smaked as I am introduced to a guy named Santo he is like the godfather a nice guy but dead set like the god father all the family is there kids grand kids just bloody every one and they made us feel real welcome jus absolutely top people!.

Then the Top fuelers are about to run and every one in the box is paying huge attent ion to the show of which was a bit weired as the just do not look like drag racers.

Any how this red beasties up on the start line doin it thing and they are now really paying attention as it dawned on me that the name on the car is SANTOS as in Santo Rapisarda the guy I am in the box with and this is his bloody car it reals of an easy 5.01 at 282 and it's party time. Unbelieveable!!

Any how I am then dragged ( like I did not want to :lol: ) down to the pits and taken into the ineer sanctum and shown how this all comes together get to sit in the trailer ( thats another story) and talk to the guys watch the quick rebuild before the next heats talk to all the guys who were just the coolest friendliest guys and words can not describe the night of being taken into the inner sanctum of one of Australias fastest families. and by my wife.

Got to belive so much happened I can not begin to tell it all but it was a sensational night and I did think that planb and Darren would love this and I am sure they would have tried to nick and engine or bits for their projects :lol:

One thing I am struggling to grasp though it's been 16 years since I've seen top fuel and man they are scary Santos told me they are shooting for a sub 4.5 this year so I'll be going to every meet cause I just gotta see that.

got to remember to buy her some flowers this week.

Hard to beat the feeling of sitting in the box and watching Drag Racing. I know I am not strong enough to pick up a Top fuel engine, but I would have given it a go :lol:

I spent the day there yesterday, son and I had a great time, gold tickets on the start line was perfect for only just deciding to turn up at 10.

it was a great display highlight for my 5 yo was getting to sit in a Junior Dragster so he was pretty stoked

Is the santos team the dragters with 'in memory of Louis' on the rear wing? Louis being their late son who passed during a run i believe. Its a sad story but it is good to see the family carrying on and winning for him.

Thats the one I was given a firsts hand recap on the events of that day by his sister really bought a lump to the throat I can tell you. you can see the pain or fear in their eyes at the start of every run and she holds her cross around her neck every time the lights go green.
