Bought my first HSV, & just wondering have I done OK with the deal. Built October 2003, demonstrator with 4000 on clock, window tint, centre bibacle, HSV floor matts, HSV door sills ultra violet $54500 on road after some haggling. :D
Anyway looking forward to being part of this forum and learning more about this great aussie icon. Cheers

Congrats dude and welcome to the forum :)
With 4000km on the clock it's the ideal time to start the mods. Then the real fun begins. :nyuk:
Enjoy ;)

SSbaby, great to be on board :) So what can be done without affecting waranty or do I have to wait for it to expire. Seems pretty restictive if nothing at all after reading the fine print

Richo,
Usually, the best way to obtain more power from the unopened LS1 is by way of mods to the induction and exhaust:
Induction:
The cold air intake currently in your HSV is good stuff and you won't need to change it unless you get really serious. I would perhaps update the standard air filter to a K&N, BMC, etc...
Exhaust:
A 'good' dealer might turn a blind eye to a good set of headers/exhaust and edit (retune of the PCM), which is the best value, bang for buck mod available to the unopened LS1. Although in your case, the HSV headers might be good enough without needing to replace them. ;) So an edit is a must if you want better performance as well as economy.
If you have an auto, an edit could also improve your shift quality.
Usually, the above mods won't worry any reasonable dealer so your warranty should remain intact, as the drivetrain is strong enough to handle the extra urge. But if you change your headers and your O2 sensors fail, be aware that the dealer might ask you to fork out $dosh$ for new ones if the problem is reoccuring.

Gordie she's a manual, only way to go I reckon. So how do I get pics onto the site. Do you require jpg or some other format?
Exhaust and retune of the PCM sounds the way to go. Will look into who's good up Newcastle way.

The forum itself doesn't host pics. you need to have them hosted elsewhere and linked to the site - that's in layman's terms, 'cos I'm no techie
E-mail your digi cam pics to me here Gordie's e-mail (gordonm@xtra.co.nz) and I'll host / post them up in this thread for you.
Agree with you about the M6, I've had both, presently in an A4 but....

Probably a demo, or the dealer principles car. It's not like there is anything wrong with the car. Sometimes it might be a Holden exec ex-lease vehicle if it has around 5000km's. They tend to be advertised as "ex-executives car" or some garb like that.

HSVRicho, you might want to try premier exhaust in Newcastle. I was very happy with the work they do. As for an edit I dont think anybody in Newcastle is doing it at the moment, I know scotts dyno were talking about getting it but I dont think that they do yet. You will probably have to head up to sydney and see one of the forum sponsors.
