guys..
let me clarify firstly...this noise is not related to any type of screeching...i have previously seen a thread on this....
however, what i have at present is some type of brake shudder everytime i apply brakes after high speeding driving. (80-100kmph)....
more annoying is that the noise is so loud that it seems the car is going to fall apart....i feel the noise on the brake pedal itself....
Ironically i got new brakes down on my last car service, at Holden dealership, they didn't machine the brakes to save me money. Now when i advised them i have this problem they are suggesting to machine the brakes.....
if this is the case can someone pls tell me some cheap places in Sydney to get good brake machined....holden has quoted $200 for both front and rear brakes to be machined.....
any info and assistance will be greatly appreciated as always....
thanks

You shoulda listened. :D
Now you need new brake pads again if you are getting your discs machined otherwise the pads that have worn to the grooves in your current discs will put grooves in your flat machined ones.
Cheapest option (if you can be bothered) is to take the discs off yourself and trot down the the local brake place and get them done - say a pair at a time.
Fit your new pads whilst you're at it.
Machining should be around $30 a disc.
hang on, do you have the VX SS or GTS?
If the SS, new discs can be had for ~$110 slotted ea, machining can be done for $15 per disc.
so you're getting shafted..
how are the pads going?
RE the pads -
"Now you need new brake pads again if you are getting your discs machined otherwise the pads that have worn to the grooves in your current discs will put grooves in your flat machined ones."
You can simply sand your pads down, just rubbing them on concrete will do the job. but usually its not a problem.

My mums vx 2 acclaim had the same problem last year eg. squealing, shuddering etc. We took it up to holden for its 30k service and they went against what i said and blamed excessive brake dust build up. the problem got worse and we took it back again next service and they then agreed that it needed machining. They wanted to machine the back discs, also even though there was no problem with them. To machine all 4 discs and new pads they wanted 450 inc labour.
I told them to forget it and took it to a local mechanic who only did the front ones, like they needed and it was $160 including new front pads. The machining was $18 each disk.
The only problem was that it came back after about 4000k's the mechanic said the disks have a memory and theres nothing that we could do apart from replacing them, instead the car was sold. So if yours were as bad as them id get new discs.

I paid $65.00 each for NEW DBA (non-slotted) front rotors. Took me 10min per wheel to fit.
Price for the rears I don't know, but should be the same or cheaper.

I reported brake shudder at my last service (90K). The service department said that Holden no longer machine the discs and all four were replaced under warranty.
