I sold a few items on ebay and am now stuck trying to figure the best way to ship a couple of items..
1: LJ dash pad... 123 x 15 x 16 cm. 2 to 3kg. east coast NSW to WA 6233

2: Roll cage, havent even checked the weight as the bloke reckons he will pick it up, but he is in Qld so its a looonnnggg way.

I was pleasantly surprised at the prices I got

the top item Aus post should be able to do, if not both items can easily be done via any large courier company. And there are plenty out there.

Aus post maximum length is 105cm, (already tried their online calculator)

As for courier companies, I know some are better $$ than others, so some names of ones used would be nice....

I've always had good service from Toll-IPEC and even better from Startrack Express.

first one $10 overnight AAE ph 131213

2nd one won't be as heavy as the space it takes up, its a bitter harder as the space can be filled by other freight. but if you give them the dimensions it will be expensive. and too expensive for air frieght. toll maybe ok at least they can't break it. try a mob called hunter express they are cheaper than the big knobs and deliver aust wide ask for road transport.

I used to work in an Acer repair centre when I started in IT, where retail stores such as the old Billy Guyatts used to send in faulty customer machines. They used to use Billy Guyatts until one store sent a PC which was repeatedly dropped by the Toll-Ipex courier going back and forth between them and us. They never used Toll-Ipex again.

If you take your stuff to an Oz Post depot, the cubic size/weight limit does not apply, but the new owner must pick it up from the depot other end - no delivery. They put it on a pallet and it gets unloaded at destination.

Pack and send is another option - not cheap but I have found them very effective.

Hey Devil,

From Bega try giving McPhee's in Canberra a call. I am pretty sure they do daily runs down that way. I used to deal with them in an outdoor sports store...as a rough guide I got a whitewater kayak sent from Brisbane through them for under $100 (Kayak was about 3 m long). They were always really fast as well.

The other option I have used is Discount Freight....again reasonable prices and fast service. You will get a discount with freight companies if there is anyone you know that has an account you can put the charge on (depending on the business they do give big discounts for accounts)

I take a lot of stuff to the local post village office, and as long as it fits in a post sack, they don't care. ie the postage sacks that all the letters go in.

Toll told me to go away as they don't do personal packages, so I tried pack and send,, $96....
Went and visited the local PO and even though the dashtop is longer than their limit, they will take it, about $25..

Thanks all for your advice
