Is there a way of finding out who gives you or what the reason being for a good or bad reputation point?

Further more does this 'reputation' actually work against you , like get a certain amount of negative 'reputation points ' and you get the arse ?

Mark you had better be careful, you don't want to end up like me do you.
-97 reputation points & "A Known trouble maker"

Reputations don't mean squat!

Human nature will naturally make a person vote negatively more often when he/she sees something wrong than positive when he/she sees something good.

Secondly non validated members votes do not count

Thirdly the points can easily be modified by persons with authority when ever they see fit.

Well after looking at the reason for my last reputation point ( go knows why ) it looks like a vessel for the testicularly challenged to have a childish sledge behind a curtain of anonimity

Bloody hell I didnt even know ppl were using these things.

If it was important it'd bother me, but last rep point I got was on a thread where I didnt agree with someone. Perfectly reasonable thread, perfectly reasonable discussion. And I admitted weaknesses in my thoughts where they were pointed out. Yet I copped a negative point from someone. I dont quite get it :)

Hell I didn't even know I had been rated, but the last rep point I got was a negative for this post http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?p=285657#post285657

What tha?

Some people I guess have nothing better to do.

I have a total of 10 rep points, I don't know what this means and I have no Idea what they were for

I wouldn't worry about it, this is a forum where you can express your views. As we know not everyone agrees with your opinion. You should still be able to voice it.

I just had alook a mine and had a bit of a chuckle at some of them... As long as this 'reputation' thing can't be used against individuals - unless it highlights a transgression of protocol, or unwarranted aggressive behaviour towards individual members - who gives a flying stuff?

I've had both 'thanks' and things like 'brat' (I think because I pointed out to some bloke his problem was with Pontiac in the US, not Holden in Australia) and 'if you can't answer the question, don't post' etc in my Rep panel. Hey, if I have knowledge, or an opinion, that might help someone out (or help shut someone up  ) I'll throw it in. Thats what all this is about, right?!

Brat... I like that! :D

Reputations can also be edited by Moderators as some have found out. If a post is specifically helpful or technical in nature and teaches me something ill give the posts a click on his/her rep button. Unfortunatly it doesnt seem to happen enough

Reputations are only modified for infringements.

Non-Validated users votes DO count .. if you are under 10 rep points they do not countand you need a very wide variety of votes for your reputation to change. Only users with positive reps count, you will find in time if used properly the reputations will begin to reflect the individuals standing in the ls1 community a much better measure than just post counts.
