Weird title I've picked I know but have a look at the description in the ad. Was just surfing ebay and had a little chuckle.

Probably not the best thing to say "Good for a high KM VT", however i dont think his description would be illegal, rather anyone who put it into a high KM vt and didnt get it properly recorded that the car has a new dash with lower Ks, they would be breaking the law...
Kind of like selling a knife and saying:
"Great for stabbing people you don't like!"

I saw that ad and had the same thoughts... Not sure on the legality of saying that in an ad vs actually misleading a purchaser...
I've become sick of a certain wreckers on ebay listing an item then pulling it multiple times, or even listing the same thing twice.
1st one was a rolling body at $800, pulled and relisted as a damaged car at $1500, and it was pulled and relisted a couple of times.
Latest is an 5.0l engine out of a fire damaged VR, and another ad with the same pic for a fire damaged VR complete with 5.0l engine.....
I've lodged a couple of complaints about this person.

The first one I mentioned had tags from Brisbane and Adelaide, so definately was a numbers job.... I was just looking for another option to get my LJ 2 door back on the road......
Oh well, ended up ebaying some bits and pieces of it, $1330 so far and still counting

I asked a freind of mine he has his own used car business.
It is illegal to tamper with odometer, but perfectly legal to sell a vehicle
with a changed dash cluster complete with odometer.
How does that work out ?

It is only legal to sell the vehicle if you make the buyer aware of the real klm travelled. When trading in a car you will notice that you sign a paper that has on it something like "to the best of your knowledge the registered klm is correct and the speedo has not been changed" etc etc. It is a LOW act to misrepresent what is being sold but a lot of people still do it. A guy was jailed here in QLD a couple of weeks ago, you will find it in another thread somewhere. What I reckon it really amounts to is theft, because you are paying for something you did not get.
