Hi all, im Magnum as the name shows and own one of these great cars that came from Peter Brocks workshop in the 80,s, im always on the lookout for information and parts from these cars, also can help with information to others.

So if you can help please tell, or ask me

The most identifiable aspect of these cars if done was the painted body color of the bumper bars and bumperettes and the Magnum Decals. Other tell tale signs was devilles had the Momo Polaris Wheeels,Areo wheels a option on both Caprice and Deville, Interior had the Momo gritti leather steering wheel and the all important footrest, also they looked great being lower to the ground due to Brock uprated springs and Bilstein shocks. Under bonnet was the Brock engine complete with chrome rocker covers and air cleaner lid on the larger cold air intake, complete with decals. But also quite a few of this car left the Brock factory looking 100% stock on the outside. Unofficial reports from lots of sources say that between 50 and up to 92 of these rare cars where produced including 3 off Magnum Utes

Cheers all..........

Hahahahaha....

If you think there wasn't as much (if not more) American input into those cars than there is now, you need you check out the Chevy Caprice from the same time period.

The truth of the matter is that Holden's design bases have always had their origins in Detroit. This goes all the way back to the very first model. Even the name "Kingswood" came from a product line which Chevrolet scrapped. AFAIK, the Holden Red motors were based on the Chev Blue Flame series - with one of the main differences being that the Holden engines were smaller in CID.

Don't forget that the GM in GMH is the American part. It has always been that way. There never was an "all-Australian" Holden and nor will there ever be.

BTW - Don't get me wrong, I love Holdens, but you gotta call a spade a spade. And don't think that the above doesn't apply to Ford too. Neither of the two "big Aussies" would be where they are today without all that American input.

Magnum, it would have been the Victorian HDT club, saw it at the Peter Brock show day they have every year at Yarra Glen, good luck with your info search!

That blue ute is not a original HDT Brock built ute, it is made from a written off magnum statesman and a old yellow PMG ute. Built some years ago. Untill quite recent it was thought to be genuine, was even displayed and shown in the Peter brock poster set and also had a recent stint in Unique cars and has been on a few web sites and shows.....It is made from the parts off a genuine magnum, although its not a genuine true magnum ute......
