Went and had a look at a VTII SS M6 today, had 104k's on it ect...
Thing is when she started it up to move it out of the garage it seemed to blow alot of blackish smoke and make abit of a noise but I couldn't get to the front of it untill it was out of the garage and the noise stoped.
It had one the odo 100,000 sevice flashing so I'm guessing that means it's due for it's sevice....could this be the cause?
Blackish smoke is to much fuel isent it?white would be burning oil.

Asking price was $23,500 but after I left the owner rang me saying it needs to sell so I can have it for $21,000.
Other problem was it had a few long scrache's along the side of it,it's also black.

Opinion?

Added...
Also looked at a VTII Clubsport R8 M6 in sting red,had a sunroof, leather (but the side bit on the driver's side was worn badly) and a few little scratches (no big deal) with 97k's on it.
Also had 18" Monaro wheels on it.
$28900,there selling to buy a new one.

Black smoke in general = fuel.

Stock VT 2 LS1's have extremely rich AFR's so this is no suprise I guess.......

Given up on HRT 2 Fast's thing????

I would think that 21 is about right for the car you decribe Chris. I would hope it has no mods though as I would rather thrash my own car than buy one someone else has thrashed ;) . The scratches are a concern though, especially on a black car, are they so deep you cant polish them out? The black smoke, if it was just a small cloud; read puff, on cold startup is not reall a concern on an EFI V8. I bet your VN does it occasionaly. Especially considering it is 5k overdue for it's 100k service. Air filter is probably black...Holden dealers dont seem to know how to change them LMAO.

i used to own a black car and scratches were inevetible, so i wouldnt worry.

black smoke...market is flooded with used cars at the moment, so i would look around rather than risk it.

Phone back and offer $19,000 cash subject to clear *revs*...but get your money ready...90% chance you will own it as it's $2000 more than any dealer
will pay in todays market :) .if the seller is unaware of this ,they soon will be..

You seem to be a great resource markone2 on matters of car values. Perchance are you 'in the trade'?

Don't forget to check the difference in Insurance between an SS and a Clubbie - depending on who you are with it could be 100% more again for a clubbie over an SS.

If you are interested in kw,s only then go with an SS gives you more cash for goodies latter to improve output. If you are interested in the whole experience then a SS will never, ever be a HSV no matter how much $$$$$
you spend it will always be a mock-up.

LOL albeit a faster better handling mockup. Or you could get an Exec with a Gen111, stealth can be wealth.

Is it really all about the Kw's or more the overall driveability,
steering, comfort, suspension, exhaust tone and the ability to say I just Got one.

You actually pay for the privilage of saying I just got one !

I had a 2000 Clubsport and it really was not worth the money I spent on it, when you buy a HSV you really buy a badge, not much more.

Look at how many 'just buy one' then spend a heap on them, as I did, to get it to where it should have been in the first place.

Simple - buy an SS for less than a clubsport, mod it up with the money you saved, then you can proudly say "i don't need one"

Go the SS Chris, lower insurance and maintenance cost were the reasons that swayed me, plus less unwanted attention.

I have scratches on mine, especially whole heap of chips on the hood so I will be respraying the whole car and hitting it with many levels of clear, factory paint is crap.

I wouldnt worry about black smoke, its running rich as they all do from factory, thing is to drive a few and get an idea of what a stock 1 goes like. 100,000km is nothing, I just clocked that a month ago, car is still going strong, same economy except it happens to like breaking traction alot.

21G is an awesome price, consider spending 4G on intake, exhaust, edit and gears, new oil, air filter, trans service, plugs and coolant, new tyres and slotted rotors, you should have GTS killing performance and 2G to freshen the paint.

HRT Stroker-I was really keen on HRT3fast VX SS,has all the goodies but I wanted to do a few other thing's at the same time so I just didn't have enough money.
I did let him know what I had to spend,if by some chance he (sorry dude I can't remember your name) does decide it needs to sell and agree's on that price I will be on a plane faster then you could say "road trip!" LOL

VXEXEC6SPEED-the scratche's
looked like the car way keyed, there pretty deep and all up the side of the car but in diffirent bits (more then one).
I also forget to say it has a small dint in the rear queter near the c piller.

Mozz-I will be making some call's tommorrow about work, this could very well stop me in my tracks with the R8.

Shaunv8-sure am,I was pretty suprised myself I haven't seen them in the paper for any less then $34,000.
When I was going to look at it I was expecting to see a real run down car but it's far from it.
And also I got the price wrong it's $29500 (I was in a hurry when I posted this thread)

hooked-What I like about the R8 is it's got leather trim, body kit,big brakes and a cool sunroof (all the thing's I wanted to add if I bought a SS) plus it's also already fitted with QuikTrak (another thing I was always going to ad,but this would mean I wouldn't go without the car for a day)

Speedy-That was the plan in the first place, the money I have to spend woulds be enough to buy a new SV8 but I really want to get what ever I buy to stand out a bit and go hard and have some fun in on the 1/4 and maybe do some club sprints.
But it also has to serve as my daily driver.
I never even bothered looking at the HSV's when I have been checking out the trading post for the last couple of weeks I just happen to come accross this thing (the R8) because it was in the $25,000-$30,000 section.
The way I see it is it has some of the bits I was planing on getting anyway like....
Sunroof-$2500 (I havent seen one SS with it)
Traker-$2100
Kit-$1200? (fitted and painted)
HSV Brakes-$2500+
Leather trim-$2500+
18 Monaro wheels-$1000 (needs 2 tires but I wanted to fit 19's anyway so I would get more back from the 18's then I would from the standed VT SS 17s)

So thats $11,800 worth of extra's and I really think I can get this car for $28,000 and at the same time I'm getting a HSV.
I don't know,am I being bias with this car?

LOL...wish I could take you up on that offer.

You might be right,I should learn to handle 220kw before I move on to bigger things but I'm not one to just jump in a car and floor it not knowing what the car can do.

This make sense to me. The R8 IMO is a better buy at that money.

And the HSV premium brakes are like 4K+ worth ;)
