It's been posted in PF that Tempe Tyres in Sydney do sell them now.

I got quoted $400 over the phone for 275/40/17s and that included shipping to Victoria. That price is too good to be true.

You may have a 4 week waiting period on some sizes as well.

Yeah they are street drag radial tyres that give you a lot of traction. Have a browse on their site. I just wish I knew who sold them.

If planning on using Nittos for the strip make sure you order the 555R only....
There is a world of difference between the 555 and the 555R, one is a street
tyre ,the other a drag tyre. :)

Thanks markone2,

I am aware of this issue, as was the guys at Tempe Tyres.

The price they quoted me are for the 555 drag radials.

Emre - Were you able to acquire the 555R's from Tempe?

Emre - Was $400 for each tyre, or for both? I can see they sell for about USD$180 each in the US.

$400 a tyre is quite a reasonable ask here in Aus....but alas :( ..I should warn you Mr Roarz...these are NOT the tyres for your esteemed red car...your welcome to bolt on a spare set of mine but you will be dissappointed ..imho
Now those MT drag radials on the other hand might just....but only just get you a much needed 1.7 launch.....big ask yes.but untill you try you will never know :)

Thanks Mark. You don't think the Nitto's will hook up much better than the RE's or the Falken's?

I was going to try and get some MT or Nitto's on my next trip to the US. Sounds like the 17" MT's are the way to go, but no one has tried them yet. The 17" size may have limits like the Nittos... I guess we'll have to get a set and get 'em a spin. :)

I'm chasing the 17's due to the tyres being the same diameter as my regular 17" road tyres......the 15" 235x60 are 1/2 an inch or so higher which throws my gearing out a bit....however given the horses under your bonnet this would be of no concern and the higher diameter sidewall of the 15" could possibly work in your favour ( flex)....just thinking out loud again :)

How are the 17's going to fit under the back of a VY though considering their 275 width??

I think they will go damn close once the Guards are rolled...something I should have had done long ago...there's a few people who have been running 265's on the street.......

I didn't get them at the end.

The quote was 400 each.
