As I step out of the car at work I notice that one of the black plastic nut covers had come off on my front right wheel. I bend over to check out the nut and find its very loose. I then procede to remove the covers off the other nuts on the same wheel and discover that all of the nuts are loose, except for the lock nut. ...I then procede to check the other three wheels and find out that all of the nuts (except the lock nuts) are very loose!

The car had been in the shop about 3 weeks ago after a minor accident, so its possible that they failed to tighten the nuts properly :bash: , but its rather difficult to point the finger at anyone in particular. From now on ill make regular nut inspections. :D

I've got the SS18's on my car.

Its not uncommon for someone to forger to tighten the nuts on the wheel.

loose nuts must be getting old.

could be a thief but they would put the caps back on. could of been any of the mentioned ppl. usually they rattle them on so tight you can't get them off to easy. great for warping the disks.

I've found a couple of times over the years that if the workshop uses a rattle gun to put them on they are either that tight you can't get them off or bloody loose. I always check mine after a service these days and if there loose let the shop know.

You're not wrong! A few years ago I had to take a trip from Sydney to Brisbane in my 450SEL Benz and had new tyres fitted the day I left. I had the wife and kids on board and had been hoofing it along a bit at 130 - 140 and I slowed down for a 60 zone and heard/felt something strange in the back end. So, I stopped and checked, but couldn't see anything wrong so proceeded on my way. But as I drove off I felt a funny vibration that I didn't like and so stopped to check again. After much shaking, pulling and kicking things, I found that the tyre place hadn't done up the wheel bolts properly (the Benz has bolts not nuts) and one had come out completely and the others were all barely finger-tight and only held in there by the light alloy screw-on centre cap of the BBS alloys .. I also let the shop know in no uncertain way...:flame:
