My Insurance is up for renewal, last year I paid $1200 through AG, this year they changed it to $2700! I so told them to f**k off. I’ve been ringing around the whole day and the cheapest was Just Car Insurance, which cost $2005. So can any please recommend a good insurance company? I live in Sydney aged 28, 65% no claim bonus, excellent driving recond, never made any claims, no finance on the car. Who can afford to run a SS with Insurance and the cost of Fuel these days?

I live in Sydney
There's the answer.
Do a search on "insurance" and "sydney" and see what you find.
VTII SS, Im 39 with CGU in Vic $720 full comp made my first claim 6 months ago still no change in premium took 1 week to pay for repairs, very good.
I have a VXII Clubby, stock, I am 24 and pay $870 a year, or $950 with my girlfriend on my policy and she is 23. Rating one, no claims, "no speeding fines" :p .............through NRMA.
Sydney is a real pain for insurance. Heath lambert has just exited the market for HSV's etc. I have just done a deal with Shannon's in Melbourne for $1,731 p.a. for a fully modified Clubby R8 for an agreed value of $45k. That deal took a lot of work and even Shannon's conceeded that HSV's are high risk. I have been insured with Shannon's on and off for the past 12 years and have a good record with them.
If the insurance premiums keep going up as they have of recent then there will be a lot of HSV's, SS's for sale.
All the best.
Colin.

I recommend that you give Suncorp Metway a call (They own GIO). Even though I live no where near Sydney, I have found them to be alot cheaper than the likes of NRMA, GIO, AAMI, Just Cars etc.
eg my current car with NRMA $1400, Suncorp $770.
Worth a try.

mate,
its not you its sydney!!! high crime drive bys drugs do gooders and ricer cars and idiot drivers making small claims pushing up premiums.
I have a vx ss and its registered in Sydney however whilst im working up north near the Qld border for most of this year the insurance is based on where the car is garaged so $800 pa. in Sydney will go up to about $1800 what a joke Basically depends in which area you live. I have a clean record which these days means sweet F A.
Also i went into the insurance company to change my rego details as i got my initials on the plates and got a $30 refund off the policy????
I am 20 years old and own/drive a modified VUSS ute. I pay $1400 a year for fully comprehensive insurance and the contract is 100% in my name with all mods noted on the policy. I live in Perth and cannot seriously beleive the prices you guys have to pay over for insurance in sydney. Why is there such a price hike for insuring a vehicle in Sydney?
How can they justify $3000 for a V6 Berlina? Unless you have had a few smashes thats a blatant rip off!

The Aero costs me $2200 a year. The reasno being i'm 23, V8 and unlimited speed zones... and the fact its such a rare car.....
Try TIO.... but they will only insure for market value... i'm swapping to Shannons hopefully.

It's only in parts of Sydney.
I live in Sydney, I'm 20, and I was quoted $1,446 for a VX Gen3 Berlina (totally in my name).
So you can get reasonable insurance premiums in Sydney. A lot of it comes down to your driving history and the suburb you live in.
Edit: That's with JCI, and hence - unlimited mods! :D

NRMA 65% NCB= $2600 :bash:
Perfect driving history.
They must pick a number of a hat
They must pick a number of a hat
I've been convinced that's exaclty what they do for a LONG time now.
NRMA quoted me $3,400.
Shannons quoted me $4,400
JCI - $1,700, then $1,446
(Though that's for a Berlina LS1. Probably more for an SS).
You can call up an insurance company on Monday, and call the same company on Tuesday, and get completely different quotes. It's ridiculous.
IAG car insurance $1,900 per yr, on just under $50k cover @60% no claim bonus
Car has to be stock

Unfortunately the borderline for most insurance company's are 30 years of age. :(
I'm with GIO and I pay $ 1600.oo pa. at 65 % n/c for the Value of $40000.oo
Which can be cheaper depending where you live.
If I lived in the Northern Suburbs it would be a lot cheaper.
You also have to consider what service and value you get with your insurance company, like what would they do if you totalled your ride will they repair it or will they just give you the money and take the car off your hands.
Eg.A VT SS still goes for around $20-25000 in a car yard or private, your insurance payout might be $17-19000. :(
Thats why I pay a little extra to pay for the "agreed Value" Policy.

I have a SV8 VY, not as expensive as a SS, but i am 21 and live in Sydney on the Northern Beaches (mona vale), NRMA and Just Car were the only 2 that would insure me and NRMA was by far the cheapest! i am paying just over $2000 now.. last yeah it was over $3000, and just car was over 4-5 grand!! Give NRMA a call!
