gday gday. im curious as to wat u need to do to break 13's with a 5L.

my last run i got a 14.8 in my vp senator, 185i mods are cat back 2 1/2 inch redback exhaust. and on the day was running a pod with my left blinker out.

I was thinking, with a chip and dyno tune, and 3.45's or 3.7's diff gears id maybe crack a high 13? wat would use say ?

Is this an auto??

If so a 3000 rpm converter, 3.7 or 3.9 diff gears, pacemaker headers and a really good tune (for premium 98) with a slightly higher shift point (5,600 RPM) might get you there.......

how much does a stally cost fitted ?

yes its an auto. I think a 13 sec street car is ideal so thats my goal.

Chuck on a S-Trim pump and cooler and that will get you there.;)

Stally, 3.7s, cam/heads, headers (if you don't have a good set already) and a tune should get you well into the 13s (maybe further).

My old VP HSV Senator 5000i had a worked 355ci motor, 2500rpm stally and lower diff ratio and it ran 13.9 in full street trim.

What was your MPH?

To run low 13s most guys here do around 104 mph at least...then some guys get a high 12 at 106.
I think lower diff gears should help with some sticky tyres but not slicks as you might bog down.
A tune should make the icing on the cake.
A set of Koni adjustable shocks or something soft you can put in the rear will give you better weight transfer and grip on the rear wheels.
Don't forget to put some good fuel in it with maybe some octane booster.
Drop the tyres down on the rear to about 18-24 depending on what you have and pump up the front to about 50 psi.
Don't worry too much ,just enjoy your self.
I have been running he same 13.3 time since I started...at least I'm consistent
I have fun any way ....but waiting around is a bit of a damper.
Good luck :stick: and let us know your progress ( so I can copy you and get my time down  )

It had everything done except it still had the bunch of Bananas manifold. I didnt actually run it, the previous owner did. He is on the Forum actually. The manifold was holding it back I think but at the time it was a quick time for a late model commodore, this was pre Gen 3 and Holden 5 litres with mods running under 15 seconds where considered fast by alot of people!
