Anyone got any info on whether it's the 346 LS1, C-5R or whatever?

GRM built it.
It is the same as the one Nathan and Brocky are racing at the moment.

Ok I mis-corrected someone on here a few weeks back about this car!
It actually does have a 5.7 in it not the big engine the Aussies were using!
My apologies to that person.

My brother in law's BIL is the team manager, Allen Orchard, who I have met a couple times. His brother works for the local Benelli importer in Oz and is an A Grade superbike racer. The car is the first Targa Tas car driven by PB. I've seen pics of it being prepared. Worked LS1, HD clutch, brakes and I think Hollinger box. The rules of the comp. don't allow for enormous changes like our touring car regs.

If you follow the link to the Emotional Engineering website, you'll find that "the Thunder from Down Under" is powered by a "fire-breathing 7 litre V8 engine that generates in excess of 650 Bhp..."

"Aussie Test for UK Monro
In another global first for Australia’s Holden Monaro, a Vauxhall racing variant is being prepared to contest the British NGT championship commencing next month.
Built in Melbourne at Monaro Performance Centre by Peter Brock’s Targa preparer, Greg Stevenson, the 5.7 litre V8 will be driven in the UK championship by Kiwi ex Superbike star, Aaron Slight, for the Surrey-based EE Motorsport team run by Allen Orchard.
The Monaro, built to UK NGT specifications, features a 550 bhp engine ex Garry Rogers Motorsport, Hollinger sequential gearbox, supercar-level brake system, Motec dash and engine management system, Australian Nations Cup aero package plus modified production-based coil over suspension.
The Valvoline/Cummins liveried Vauxhall will be unveiled at the Donnington round opener on April 4.
Slight, 38, finished second (twice) and third (four times) in his nine-year international Superbike career, and turned to race cars contesting the 2002 British Touring Car Championship.
The New Zealander drove the Monaro in a shakedown at Calder Park prior to its despatch to England last weekend.
“Rear wheel drive, big horsepower V8 and it’s a Monaro. What a great recipe!” Slight said.
Emotional Engineering boss Orchard believes that the Vauxhall/Monaro will be a hit, both on the track and with race fans around Europe.
"We are raring to go," he said. "We have assembled a team of highly skilled professionals in the form of engineers, marketers and high profile – and hugely experienced – drivers, all capable of winning races and supporting Vauxhall in its marketing push.
"The Monaro is an awesome beast, as its performance in winning the inaugural Bathurst 24-Hour Nations Cup demonstrated. We are also pleased to have obtained Aaron's services."
Racing in Europe will provide the platform from which Holden/Vauxhall will be able to demonstrate the performance capabilities and technical excellence of the Monaro to a wider audience. The launch of the Vauxhall Monaro road car will coincide with the 2004 race season."

OK, this is confusing.
I think the article which says that the car has a 5.7 litre V8 was written before the car was officially unveiled.
If the car was built to a formula, would it be race-legal to increase the engine's capacity??
Anyway, the answer is a definite maybe on the 427.....

cheers mate , I stole it from a friend. It had me hypnotised the first time I saw it.
And as for the engine - I too am now confused, as is their clever media staff.
Who said a journalist always checks the facts in a story ....
At least it was built by GRM, I'm 1/2 right so far

If anything, this is a fantastic marketing exercise to help sell the Monaro in the UK.
Imagine if it starts winning :)
