I'm with Shannons, I'm paying about $1800 p.a. You have to negotiate with them, they started at over $3k with me, also depends on who you talk to. It may pay to ring back several times to speak to different people and get new quotes. I found my local office in Canberra quoted me much cheaper than head office.

Shannons quoted me $2800 last year, this year $1300 for my CV8 (for $58,000 agreed value, 29yo, 65% NCB). Thats the cheapest quote (well, equal to CGU). They said i can have UNLIMITED mods, yes, that includes heads, cam, exhaust, edit, s/charger, etc etc etc, with no extra charges or penalties.

I also get choice of repairer, and first salvage rights through shannons.

Just Cars quoted me $1188 for the Caprice with a blower. Unlimited mods. Thewre excesses are a bit more than a standard insurer and they want an additional $500 if the wheels are damaged in an accident.

No blower is $614 through AAMI

I am with Heath Lambert and have car insured for about $75,000, pay around $3,500 but I pay pre tax so it is really only around $1,800 so I can live with it.

But I will be going to see Dane soon at Shannons as he is running practically the same gear as me and a good guy to boot (that'll be 20% discount for that plug thanks Dano :p ).

Thanks for all the replies , seems like there trying to screw me,seems Sydney is a very expensive place to try and insure a car compared to other parts of the country.

Heath Lambert are no longer doing HSV's so I went with Shannons for my R* with any mod as long as it is legal, gotta love that.... :)
